After Market Injectors

I am considering getting some after market injectors to replace my stock ones. Any advise or ideas?

Yes i did mean to upgrade to more power. I have heard rumor though that guys where cooking their engines with bigger injectors, any truth to that rumor ?

So if one where to go with bigger injectors what is the process ? send them away, exchange? price? thanks for any assistance

Big injectors and a duration box will supply way too much fuel for the stock turbo. Just injectors and a boost fooler you'll be fine. Watch your pyro and back out if it get hot. Most places work on an exchange basis with a core charge and there are several sources depending what exactly you want.

Find the amount of horse power you would like to achive and they will suggest some great options for you. It all depends on what you want to use your truck for and how rich you are.

Thanks guys, I have been told by my local Diesel Performance shop that Diesel Dynamics out of Las Vegas can upgrade my injectors to a Stage one (50 hp) I believe that is the number. I think I will go that route.

The price is reasonable as well.

Yikes! According to the online HP calculator, to boost my non-California SO auto to a mere 420 HP it will cost me $4878. 00 + the transmission upgrades, which requires a call. My guess is $6000 for the package.



The total cost to boost to 390 HP is $4419, and the cost for an upgrade to 345 HP (isn't that about what a 2004 HO is?) will cost me $2619.



It looks like the big costs will be the turbo and transmission upgrades. I'm not sure I'd spend $2600 to bring it up to a new HO. From what I've been reading, Marcos' Catcher system sounds like the way to go, but us 3rd Gen dudes will have to wait a bit longer for that to happen. One thing I found interesting about the DD upgrades is that if you want to go from 230 HP up to 280 HP you get stage 1 injectors, but if you want 295 HP they skip the injectors and put on a True Torque Power Module and gauges. For minor increases in HP the latter looks like the better deal.

Crunch, anything over 350hp in these trucks requires the turbo upgrade to control EGT temps. Can the power be added without the turbo? Sure, but you won't be able to safely use the power. The kits spit out by the configurator are designed to give you everything needed to be able to use the power listed.



The power levels listed is also rear wheel horsepower, not flywheel rated power. A 2004 HO (305/555) makes about 280hp at the wheels stock.



All the options for power level and pricing are listed. They are used for comparative analysis on what you might want. That's why you see injectors listed first, then a box at the next level, and so on. Hope it's not too confusing.

Ok if I was to do the stage one injectors and with the Edge Chip I already have would I be over 350 hp at the rear wheels?



If I did infact need to upgrade the turbo what is involved their?

Edge Box plus DD1's will put you over 350 HP. The DD Jammer turbo is a bolt in with a 4 inch downpipe. It also has a new intercooler tube from the turbo to the intercooler. It will easily handle the DD1's and Edge.

If you decide to do the turbo route, go ahead and get the DD2's. 400HP easily, and every bit of it usable.

No wonder some are switching over to GM. I love my Dodge and didn't buy it to go hog wild power wise. But those that did might be having second thoughts.



You can get 400 RWHP out of a Dmax for less than $2000 and not have turbo, injectors or heat issues. All stock motor.

yycguy - The EZ and our Stage 1's will make at least 125hp gain. On an HO with ~275hp stock, that's well over the power limit of the turbo. On the SO with ~230hp, it's right at the limit. The CA truck would likely get away with it.



Yo Hoot - The Dmax guys are not able to get those kinds of power gains and still have useable power either. They have no choices for bigger turbos (yet) and just run them hot. At least with the Dodge, there are options. A 400rwhp Dmax is achieveable, but the EGT's are way more out of sight than a 400rwhp Dodge with the parts that are available.
