Is anyone making after market shocks for the 3rd gen dually yet? All the parts houses I've cked at say it is a dealer item.

I have the Rancho 9000's with in cab controls. I thought I had the numbers I used but somehow they must have gotten out of my computer. There is much information on Rancho shocks on this forum, you could try a search. I think most have settled on the same number for the front without a lift but the back is a different story. At least 3 different numbers have been used with success. I think I'm the only one with the number I'm using on the back.

My truck is usually loaded to 11500 and pulling a 11500+ trailer. As far as I know, Rancho doesn't make shocks for the DRW but will tell you what will work. You will also get different numbers depending on who you talk to at Rancho.

From your signature, you probably haul more weight than I do so you want a heavier shock than stock. I haven't seen a Rancho that is heaver than the stock shocks.

The correct Rancho part numbers are in the 3rd Gen FAQ's. Don't listen to anyone at Rancho, for the most part they are clueless. The ones listed here work just fine on my dually and are physically the same dimensions. The Rancho's on level 9 have more dampening than any other shock that I'm aware of (including the stockers, which my testing has pegged at an equivalent to Rancho level 5 of 9). Oh, and the 2500's, 3500 SRW and 3500 DRW are identical as far as rear shocks go.

Hope this helps.

EB,

Rancho finally has the RS9000X shocks available for the 4x2 '03-'04 Dodge 2500/3500 trucks. I, like several others, haul a large heavy slide in truck camper. The adjustable Ranchos make a big difference over the OEM shocks. I prefer Ranchos because I can adjust them for both loaded and unloaded conditions.

The part numbers for the 2-wheel drive 3500 trucks are RS99269 and RS99279

There are several on-line sources for the Ranchos. I ordered mine from Sam's Offroad in Tulsa.

We need to get these part #'s added to the FAQ thread so they are readily available.

Edit: the Fronts are: 99269 & the rears are the 99279.

Still SOTSU!!

You guys do realize that Rancho shocks are made by Monroe and are the same twin tube design as stock, right?

But Monroe does not make the adjustable (at least I did not find them in a search) & that is what I had years ago on the y2k - now I need to change mine about 25k ago and have been awaiting the 2x4 shocks. Knew they had the 4x4's out early but us 2x4's were left in the wait & C limbo (low down)... .....

SOTSU!!

Don,t overlook the bilstein shocks,a little pricey. I ordered 4 bilsteins (5100 series)for my 2004 ram 2500 from www.shox.com for $294. 00 shipped. coobie Oo.

Coobie, those bilsteins work great on a 4x4, but I think they are a tad too long for a 2 wheel drive unless it is lifted.
