Help on MODS that I need

does anybody know of an aftermarket muffler that is 4 inch in and 5 inch out?

any recomendations on how to do a single stack that is 5 inch in without going to a full 5 inch system?

im not pushing enough air to go full 5 inch yet.

thanks

Grant

I see an adapter on a lot of big trucks going from a 4 inch exhaust to a 5 inch stack. A 4 inch muffler should flow plenty... or a 5 inch muffler with the adapter in front of it if you want. The adapter shouldn't be too hard to find or make.

Id got with Keimmo said. Id add the adapter infront of a 5" in, 5" out muffler. For two reasons, number one, you have alot more available options in muffler choice, and number two, you said you arent pushing enough air YET. So Im assuming you plan on it in the future. Then when you decide to go 5" all the way, you dont have to buy another muffler, you already have it. Why buy a muffler twice? Just my opinion. Hope this helps.

thanks all for your input, i figured i would have to go to an adaptor. future upgrades will be a turbo and injectors, maybe a fuel system depending on how large of injectors i go. i want to keep the truck as simple as possible with as few electronic boxes as possible.

will i have power loss with a 4 inch straight pipe into a 5 inch mufler into a 6 inch stack? thats part of why i wanted to keep as much of it 4 inch for now as i would be able to due to the fact that the stack is 6 inch final size.

thanks again

I don't think your "megaphone" exhaust would be a problem. My experience has been that what matters is what comes off the motor... and you are keeping that stock. From a couple of feet on back, it doesn't seem to matter. I would be surprised if you lose any power with your proposed system... I would actually expect it to be better than stock.
