It looks like my alternator is going T. U. Can anyone reccommend a good aftermarket one? Schucks wants a little over $200 for theirs which seems a little pricy for one of their rebuilds. Has anyone used a Lestek?
I highly recommend getting your alternator rebuilt by a shop that specializes in servicing truck fleets.
Mine needed work a few months ago and I took it to a shop in Memphis, TN. that does electrical component work for most of the fleets that have locations in the area. A good shop like this will be a direct distributor for the major manufacturers, such as ND, Delco, etc. and will have any needed parts on hand and will be able to repair or replace most any component you might bring them.
Mine was rebuilt with all new normally replaced parts, such as bearings and I was able to pick it up the same day that I left it. The total cost was about $88. 00.
If you are near a medium to large city there will probably be such a shop there. Look in the Yellow Pages under truck supplies and equipment.
