Aftermarket Balljoints

Autozone's chassis is Perfect Circle, AKA, Dana/Spicer.



Bendix pads are good, Raybestos, and Wagner as well... any name brand is good.



The worst part about cheap brakes is the dust, and reduced performance (and noise).

OK guys I have to admit that I got cold feet and returned my NAPA non-greaseable balljoints. I told them I wanted greaseable units when I ordered them and my wife picked them up when I was at work and they told her I could bring them back if it was not what I wanted. They also told me that I would not be able to get greaseable balljoints from anyone else. So I went to my local CarQuest autoparts who handles Moog and they are not available at this time, but he called in to his supplier and they told him that if NAPA has them out they sould have them shortly and he said they will be greaseable. My local CarQuest parts store is going to keep me up to date on the availablity of these balljoints and when I here from him I will sure keep everyone posted.

I just talked with MOOG at 800-325-8886 and they said they still don't offer the ball joints but feel when they do, that they will be greaseable.



TRW's are available and are an OE type non greasable replacement and do not have the MOOG M2 technology. I just don't get why MOOG has all the steering parts for the 3rd gens and no ball joints.



Both TRW and MOOG are owned by Federal Mogul but the MOOG stuff is different.

I called them last week at the same number. Told them we're really "suffering" here. They said they log every call they get for a non-carried part to gauge demand.

Hrmm, I still wonder why they make the steering links for 3rd gens. Are they really getting lots of calls for those?

Right Way to Check

What's the right way to check to see if they're bad anyway? I've jacked up the truck and tried to see if there is play in all directions, but there's none. Truck is an 03 4x4 w/ 58,000 miles. I've also got 315/70s on there too. No wobble, no problem. I thought this would be a recipe for failure... what's the deal?

Once you have the wheels up, slide a big pry bar under the tire and see if you can lift up and get movement at the joint.
