Aftermarket Bed light Wiring

With the now separate lights for signal and brake lights ,when using a universal stop, tail, signal lamp, how are you wiring it up? When combining the stop and signal wires I get a lamp out warning on braking or signaling. I guess i could cover the opening and install three separate round lights but that would be a lot of work. I need a simple solution. Any ideas? Oh, this is a flatbed install. I am having the same problem on all three makes of trucks in 2003 and 2004.

Maybe buy one of those units ($40-$50, IIRC) that you use to connect a 4-wire taillight setup to a trailer?



My old Toyota had one of these for its four-wire trailer electrical connector. Takes the separate brake and signal lines on each side, and combines them into one line for the combination brake/signal lamp on the trailer.



I'm just guessing, but you should be able to cut the 4-wire plug off, and connect the wires directly to the tail lights...

Hmm, $16, not bad... cost 3 or four times that, when I needed one.

Tbrudder hit the nail on the head. That is the only way you will be able to do what you want. They are called converters and if I remember correctly they aren't cheap. Good luck. John
