Aftermarket downpipe?

I have searched high and low for info about what size the stock downpipe off the turbo is. Reason is I want to know if a: someone makes an aftermarket DP and b: is there any improvement with an aftermarket? Anyone know the answer?

You need to post some truck info to get a answer. The size varys by year.

2003 and early 2004 have 3. 5" downpipes. I have a couple spare 4" aftermarket downpipes for them; later trucks come with 4" from the factory.

Heh, sorry about that. I have an 06. Is there an alternative out there for the 06's?

Yes, there are a few alternatives out there, but unless your changing out the turbo, there is no reason to do it. Now that the 2004. 5 & up trucks come stock with a 4 inch downpipe. The reason most people change it on 2004. 5 & up trucks is because they have changed the turbo, and the new turbo outlet is HX40 size. The reason people with the older trucks (2004 & down) change it, is to open up the exhast path - usually in addition to an entire exhaust system change.



If you need a down pipe call Industrial Injection.



A word of warning - changing downpipes will also require you to do some modification/fabrication to the exhaust system, they are NOT direct bolt ons (in my experience).

I also have a Silent Might 4" muffler with the brackets welded on, that was installed for 3-4 months and the 4" glass pack premuffler muffler that Rokktec suggests adding to the 03's, that I also would like to sell. Tks John

Im interested in a 4" DP but the 03 didnt come with one..... Is that a aftermarket that has a 3. 5" and goes to 4" or 4" all the way?

DP size

The DP is 4" all the way, it's flanged to bolt up. If the stock tail pipe is cut just where it goes to 4" behind the muffler then 2 pieces of 4" pipe ( if a premuffler is used) and clamps (use band clamps) will convert the whole system to 4" provided you have 4" muffler(s) and DP. I had installed the silent might, the premuffler, used the stock tail pipe and stock DP. The stock DP worked at stock HP. As I upped the HP a complete 4" was needed turbo back and I purchased a Pinnacle complete system. So, used mufflers and unused DP need a home. A word on size, if your not adding HP just replacing the stock muffler with a straight thru will amaze ya but be prepared for some noise. HP increases will require larger exhaust. Now start thinking intake, like that little bitty hole onto the air filter box. If ya want it to go, it's gotta suck, so it's cold air intake time.
