Corsa Performance Cat-Back Exhaust

Ducman

I just went with the cat-back system. The cat is still on the truck. Left it there as I am moving to CA later this year - and I just don't want to deal with the CA smog gestapo #@$%! more than necessary.

Hi Bob;

In short - I work for an OE and have the frequent displeasure of informing customers that "we" will not pay for the repairs that resulted from either their stupidity/ poor quality parts (that happens VERY often) or both.

The key is to use common sense when modifing your vehicle. If you want big power, its is going to cost big dollars (cubic dollars if you want big power to live). This requires costly engineering, but if you do it right, you can build a big power engine that will live. Just don't expect the OE to pay for warranty repairs on items you modified. Afterall, would you demand Chrysler pay for the repair if you installed an aftermarket suspension system and one of these parts failed? You would have to go after the manufacturer of those parts. If you bomb and engine (take it outside of the OE parameters), why should Chrysler pay to replace the engine if you melt it down? You need to go after the manufacturer of the computer that resulted in the engine meltdown.

Here is the excerpt from the 2005 Dodge Ram Truck Warranty Booklet (page 15)

3. 1 Modifactions not Covered

"... But your warranties dont cover any part that DC didn't supply or is not certified for use on your truck. Nr do they cover the costs of any repairs or adjustments that might be caused or needed because of the installation or use of non-DC parts, components, equipment, materials, or additives.

Performance r racing parts are considered to be non-DC parts. Repairs of adjustments caused by their use are not covered under your warranties. "
