Do you really NEED an aftermarket filter? There are a ton of misconceptions out there about how much good an aftermarket filter will do. The stock paper filter flows plenty for stock trucks and probably plenty with a 100hp adder. The only ones that filter close to as well as the stock filter are by AFE. I personally think that until you are trying to make 450+hp changing the filter is a waste of time and money. To get a little better flow to the airbox you could do the mod shown in the latest TDR mag that picks up air from behind the bumper.

i still have my factory "style" paper filter and plan to stay with it.

read this comparison . it has been referenced before on the TDR.

it was conducted for filters availabile on a duramax, but it has some relevance to the filter styles available for our trucks.

i have some real concerns about the amount of dirt that will pass through certain foam and gauze filters. i am not against some of these filters, i just don't see a need to change. the truck runs as stong as i need it to right now.

good luck

The K&N filter is a poor filter it lets alot of the fine dirt get through. I have found the best filter to be a Amsoil filter. They have two choices one with a sticky oil you can spray on it or the new Ea filter which is a synthetic fiber filter that uses no oil and flows close to what a K&n does ,but traps almost every particle of dirt. I give TDR customers a 10% discount on Amsoil products.
