I have been shopping for a replacement front end for a long time now and have narrowed it down to a Ranchhand legend series or a rockingranch front both are about identical. I almost bought an aliarc but there are lots in the area here on pickups and vans and have talked to a lot of owners and they claim the aluminum has cracking and breakage issues. I talked to rockingranch tech department and they claim theres is built better than Ranchhand is now they are now built in china. the older USA built ones were the best. But at $1000 plus for either I was looking for a used one I don't want the whinch mount but need the built in receiver. Can someone out there help find a used one for a second gen.

Has anybody used either of these and how do you like them. I found a ranchhand off of an 02 chevy for $400 and am thinking of getting it and retrofitting it. Any thought on this are welcome.

BILLVO,

I have a legend on my 01 and love it.

As far as retroing one from a from a chevy I would not waste your time ... A lot of work and it will never fit like the factory one ... (trust me I know).

Check my readers rigs for photos of my dually and my 3/4 ton with ranchhands on them. :D

I'm not sure it's what youre looking for, but I have a UTE on my 2nd gen.

Look in my album.

This is very close to the aliarc bumper I would like to stick with steel. but they are awesome looking front ends

Hey Alpcom did you try to retro one from a chevy.

If you want to get rid of one let me know.

My main goal is to find one a little less than new price. $1000 cheapest price I could get new one for. shipping $ from texas to North Dakota is killer on these.

Yea, the aluminum looks really nice when polished. It's a B***H keeping it that way.

I also have a UTE courtesy of a very stupid driver who made a crazy left turn in front of me. The only downside is I had to wait a couple of months for it to arrive--luckily I could do so as my radiator and intercooler etc. were all fine. transmission cooler was trashed, but I drove without it for a couple of weeks--I just drove carefully.

But the styling and weight of the UTE are just unbeatable in my opinion.

I have a freind that sold his chevy and bought a dodge (another convert from the dark side :-laf ) ... anyhows, he/we looked at retroing his chevy ranchand to his dodge but the distance between the two main posts is narrower on the chevy by about 6 inches (the dodge has a wider grill) so he just sold it.

Put a WANTED ad in the classifieds, someone may have one they will sell you :D

The front receiver is great if you have a portable winch and also good for dragging or pushing rv's and boats into or out of tight spaces.

Mine was financed by a truckdriver that backed into my bumper TWICE at a red light.

I had to chase him for 5 miles before I got a place that I could pull my truck in front of him so he couldnt run.

Rat bastid tried to say he didnt do it, but the guy behind me saw the whole thing and said he would testify for me. Once he heard this his story changed.

It really wasnt that bad. He was barley moving, but the body shop said $1200. 00. :D

Now I got the UTE and a 35 lb home made license plate bracket. :-laf

Guaranteed to clear out riceburners for 5 years.

I even sold the old bumper. I told the buyer the story and showed pictures, but it was hardly worth while mentioning.
