Those of you that are running an aftermarket fuel pump as a pusher are you running it all the time? I thought of trying to set it up on my 12V so I could just run it when I wanted to via a control switch.

Jim,

I think you would have problems shutting off your pusher if you didn't bypass it. Your main lift pump would have to draw fuel through the pusher and ultimately wear it out prematurely.

I was thinking about putting a resister inline so that it would lower the pressure at idle and then use a micro switch on the throttle so that it would kick up to full battery voltage when not at idle. Another idea would be to use a pressure switch that will kick it up at a preset boost. I now have to much pressure at idle. A few people said that before the pusher pump craps out the pressure rises for a while before it stops working completly. I do know that the pressure at idle is about twent psi when the voltage is lower and about 30psi when it is about 14. 3 volts. I just haven't had the time yet to mess with it. I also have all the parts sitting in the shop for a set of twins. :D

Another thought, would be to make a by pass and then at a predetermined boost have the other pump kick in. That would be cool.
