I wonder if they will be big bucks, since Cummins went to a common rail? The F**D Injectors (+60hp) are about $ 3000 w/exchange.

Will they need uprate injectors or will the Valve/injector be able to deliver fuel over a wide range of volumes if the computer tells them to?

common rail diesel injectors kinda work like gasoline fuel injectors. to get more fuel out of them, open it longer and boost the rail pressure. on the duramax, the first power box that came out was the powerplay box. all it did was boost the pressure in the fuel rails [it also had the side effect of causing fuel leaks on the low pressure fuel return plumbing when cranked to max] . boost the pressure up and electronically advance the injection timing a tick more and you will get more fuel in. now, there is probably room for improvment on the injector tip, like tinkering with the spray pattern or increasing the # of holes in the nozzle.

Whether new injectors are available or not, from what I've heard and seen, it's going to be a real pain to get at the three rear injectors!

I still can't get over the lousy engine compartment design. That new engine is stuffed in there like a New York subway at rush hour! One of my areas of enjoyment in any vechicle it to be able to work on the engines with as much ease as possible. Dodge certainly didn't give any consideration to engine accessability!

As much as I like the new model, I'll probably look for a used 01 when I finally am able to get my truck.
