I installed a TST Powermax 3 on my '99 3500 4x4 dually when it had less than 20,000 miles on it. It is an adjustable horsepower and torque increaser. In order to install this unit you have to splice into the injector pump wire. The unit worked very well and the increase in performance was amazing. I did have to put a high torque clutch in the truck after the factory clutch went. I bought an aftermarket clutch set and had the dealer install it. At the time the manifold was cracked and I asked about the warranty on it. I was told that there was none on the manifold because I had installed the Powermax, which voided the warranty, and it would cost over $700 to replace it. I told them to forget it and was going to install an aftermarket myself. At 83,000 miles the fuel system took a dump. I took it back to the dealer and was told that none of it would be warrantied because I had installed the aftermarket box. At that point I got fed up with them and towed it to another dealer 70 miles away. They basically told me the same thing, but agreed to replace the manifold and lift pump, but not the injection pump because I had spliced into the wire. After 3 1/2 weeks of playing games with the dealers, I finally got my truck back. I had it flatbedded back from the dealer ( MISTAKE ) took it for a test drive and realized that the turbo was not kicking in at all. Called the dealer, talked with the mechanic ($80. 00/hr. genius) and he admitted that he was too confused to hook the wiring back up properly. After spending over $2500 in towing, truck rental and the rebuilt pump, I decided to fix it myself. The easiest way for me to get my work truck back on the road was to re-install the Powermax. ( another MISTAKE ) After 2000 miles the injector pump failed again! Once again I was denied the warranty because I had spliced into the injector pump wire. I have contacted Cummins, TST, and Daimler-Chrysler. Of course, none of them will accept any responsibility for any of this!Think long and hard before installing any aftermarket product - chances are, some part of your warranty will be voided! Hope I didn't put y'all to sleep!
