Had this done yesterday due to putting a camper on. I know there have been previous threads but my question for the forum is related to a message I am now getting since disconnecting the factory antenna. After about a minute of activation, i get a message on the screen telling me that there is an antenna problem and to contact the dealer for service. That message does not go away. So I start out with being able to read the song title and artist but after the message appears, I cannot read those.

The tech who did the work disconnected the antenna at the radio and put a magnet type with lead going under the dash and mounted on the hood. I can easily remove that and put it inside the truck when the camper is off but cannot easily connect the original lead to the radio. Is there anyone else who has done this conversion with a different result? The reception is good now but I would like to have the message go away.

Why did he pull the radio??? I thought I read that there's a junction at the passenger side "A" pillar just for that purpose. I wonder if there's too much "excess" antenna lead in coiled up somewhere......or in the event you have OEM NAVI---that that antenna is not supporting the OEM NAVI end of it???

I recall there was different length cables available from the dealer.

I recall the article on the lead being available in the A pillar and mentioned that to the installer. He had just done this same work three times on Dodge trucks within the last week. Of course he did not mention if it caused an error message. Meant to use the Nav on the way back and forgot. Need to do that. Drove into town today and in 15 minutes, no message. On the way back got the message. Further to follow on the Nav issue.

Fin style as it has nav, which I confirmed yesterday still works. So just unplugging the lead from the radio causes the error message. Guess I will have to resurrect the post on the A pillar install since no one has weighed in if that method causes an error message.
