OK here we go ,I've got a 05 2500 CTD QC 4x4 and 3. 73 gears with a automatic transmission. The transmission shifts ok, could be a little firmer but ok. I'm going to add a Quadzilla tow box or a Edge EZ and thats it . Now the converter is another pot of beans. I would like to here from 48re owners who have changed out the converter to get less stall speed and have a better or more mechanical "feel" while driving around w/o the converter locked. Dunrite, TCI Towmaster, ATT, DTT. Oh, by the way I would like to keep my farm too at the end of this lil' deal !

I did an ATS about a year ago. At the same time did a towing valve body. I think (someone might want to confirm this) that ATS recommends it when doing their TQ. Anyway here's my thoughts. Does shift a little harder. Not a hard jolt but a tick harder. Nothing major. In fact my wife doesn't even know I did it and she's the picky one. The main difference I noticed was while I tow. Seems to be a little tight is how it's been described to me. When I'm towing on level ground and there's a slight increase or really small hill the truck won't down shift. It trys to power through it which is fine but my boost climbs really slow which causes the temsp to start climbing even faster. You almost want to slow down and put the tow haul on or haul *** and make the truck down shift on it's own. I'm sure I lost you on all that but that's how I try to describe it. Other then that the power holds pretty dang good. I've only slipped the TQ once in year and it's because I was in a burn out contest with my buddy when we had our rv's on the back. I had the TST cranked enough to spin the 35"s but I did finally get the TQ to spin when I was on 7/8. I'm not really smart enough to understand the lock-up thing so I haven't done a commander yet. When I am racing I do put the tow haul on. Then it's a rocket. Keeps the RPM's up.

You have done a bunch more to your truck than I will. The tall tires, input shaft and all those other goodies are really great but at this stage in my life I'm after rock solid reliabilty and a little better towing. The tight condition that you refer to is really what I'm after. How moch less stall does your converter have than stock when it is flashed up and or between shifts? Mine only drops 200-300 rpm between shifts. TCI told me to expect around 300 less rpm stall than stock with their Tow Master . That sounds about right to me but hey this is my first diesel.

I used a Dunrite set-up. Tony is very helpful and has lots of experience. My converter has a 1700 rpm stall and really helps the mushy feel. I picked up about 1 mpg for non-lockup driving. Also, Tony's trans kit includes about 10 seals that are designed to withstand the higher trans pressures that go with the upgrades. I did all the work myself so I was sure it was done correctly. I would be very sceptical of anyone wanting to sell a TC and valve body without doing the whole job.

You're speaking French. Dude I really don't have clue what you're talking about. Sorry. I've never really paid attention to the RPM difference between the stock on and the ATS. I had so much done to my truck at one time that when I got her back the whole thing ran different & shifted diffferent. The best I can do for you is look at the RPM range next time I tow. Sorry. I did do the input shaft at the same time, but that shouldn't have anything to do with TQ stall speed that's why I didn't mention it. I since have to a TruSpeed calibrater so I my shift points are back to where they should be. Helped out quit a bit when towing (and braking)

I just did a complete ATS Stage V with their triple-lok TC. It is hard to comment on what part the TC plays on the whole thing, but it gets the power where it needs to be in a solid manner.
