I owen a 99 with an auto and have made a few upgrades. 4" exhaust, K&N and a banks intake. I plan on installing 300 Hp. injectors and maybe a banks big hoss chip. I trying to stay in the 350 hp. range. My question is would it be better to upgrade my current trans or go with an aftermarket. If an aftermarket which is the best. I do little towing mainly a 16' flat bed with a racecar on it and a 27' fifth wheel camper. thanks for any info.

How many miles on your current transmission? If its less than 100k I'd just buy a TC and VB. If its over I'd have the transmission rebuilt either to OE specs or with all the aftermarket upgrades you can afford plus the TC and VB. I've had my DTT transmission for a year now and 30k without any problems. I'd definately give them a call you cant beat ther service and I've been more than satisfied with thier product.

And just to complicate the issue the man should have a choice, these folks in Wheatridge, CO put in a transmission that outlived my engine. Course I only drive it loaded 75% of the time, bout 10 hours a day most everyday. We'll see if it can outlive two. May I offer for your serious consideration:

I agree with OTRPU. I believe ATS has done the Most Thorough job of engineering of all the Performance Trans builders out there. Their TripleLok TC will NOT slip, I don't care how much H. P. & Torque you are making. And their Stator is darn good too.

I only have about 40,000 miles on my ATS Stage IV, but I'd go with them again in a Heartbeat! They are family owned and operated and do first rate work.

I have approx. 60k miles om my DDT. Could not be happier. James Northum (inarush on forums) did mine 2 years ago. You made no mention of your location--Inarush is near Dallas, Tx. I tow an Alpenlite 5'er (there is nothing light about an Alpenlite) every time I can; every where I wish.

James did mine also, and he has been doing transmission work for over 26 years now. I think he knows a thing or 2 about them, and was glad that he only does DTT. This tells me that he believes in them, as I did. :)

Would do it the same way all over again. :)

Mine too, I guess I'm his highest powered customer:p

You forgot to tell him to GO WITH THE 91%!!! :D

And you might be the customer with the most power, but I'm the happiest!!! :p

How much does it cost to upgrade a properly working auto trans before you encounter problems? A motor with exhaust,, injectors and Edge EZ? Thanks, Tim

20k miles & trouble free! I expect many more trouble free miles too! FWIW, DTT has installers all across the US though his office in BC was where I had mine done living in Everett, WA.

I live in Ohio . Does DDT or ATS have swap outs or do they just build your original. The DDT seems to be what most are running. Thanks all for the info.

ATS has swapouts. I got their stage four with lockup controller and it feels like they swapped out my whole truck. I can't wait to get in it and drive and hate to get out. I love it 50,000 miles of fun!

Yes DTT will do a swap out unit, although most go for the full rebuild by a DTT trained installer. :)

With ATS you can also get just the TripleLok TC and their Valve Body. You can do your upgrade in stages.

That's right, ATS does offer this, as does DTT, and SunCoast. Just about every transmission company will be happy to work with you. Try a search if you are wanting to know which transmission company to go with, there is more then enough to make up ones mine. :)
