I took mine off yesterday and am going to try a thing or two with it, nothing fancy. Just something to get rid of the plastic cover and make it look better. Hopefully I will be done in a week or two.
I also removed the lower half of the sandwich so I can get that to match. The casting is so lousy I wanted to smooth them out before doing anything with them.
Removing the lower girdle is easier than it looks. First unplug the 3 injector wires, then remove all the wiring from the injectors themselves after making note of what color goes to what terminal (the little nuts are integral with the wires so you won't lose them). Then remove 7 retaining bolts and lift the whole thing out of there.
Once removed I took the wiring harnesses out of the girdle so I could get them out of the way to start working on it.
