A couple of years ago, one of the off road magazines did an article on wheel strength. I don't remember for sure which magazine it was, but they contacted TUV, a testing facility in San Diego, to see how strong various wheels were. Manufacturers send their wheels to TUV for testing before they assign wheel ratings.
The bottom line was that the M/T Challenger (16/8 wheel), despite a 3,000lb rating, was the strongest wheel of its size they had ever tested - steel or aluminum.

in my own opinion,,,,the Weld super singles, Centerline EXTREME DUTY BILLET WHEELS, and the Alcoas are all great wheels, I will never gross over 12,000 lbs with my truck, the centerlines and the welds have far nicer styling than the alcoas, IMO, and I settled on the centerline comet III extreme, I hope they dont crack, and if they do, i'll replace 'em, and i won't loan 'em to anyone with a 747... LOL

Just my 2 cents worth.

According to 4wheel parts whse. The Eagle 589 16. 5x9. 75's are the strongest wheel @ 3700 lbs. But they weigh the most and the center is so thick that it takes away from the looks of the wheel. Also they don't look as good as the Weld Typhoons which I plan to purchase a set of 16. 5x12's pretty soon.

Hey WOWZY,
I see you are running 16. 5X9. 75 and no lift mentioned, do you have any clearance problems?
Do you have any pictures of your truck yet?
Also, does pulling the foglight relay allow the fogs and high beams on at the same time?

Thanks,

Mick2500

"High" Mick,Less than 12 hours after picking up my truck from the dealership,I installed my 33x12. 50MT and 16. 5x9. 75 Eagle wheels without the need for any lift. About 6mos. later I had the skyjacker leveling coils installed and then went to 35's on the same wheels. But that's all that I have is the leveling coils on the front. When I wear these tires out I'll probably go with a Tuff Country 5" lift and 36" tires with 16. 5x12 Weld Typhoons.

As far as the Fog's relay goes,You have to put a jumper wire from terminal 3 to terminal 5. These terminals will be identified by the numbers on the underside of the fog relay. This will definately help your "Just ahead of the truck" vision while having your High-beams on.

Sorry no pics yet! I'm still waiting for my "Cummins" SS rocker panels to get here. After I install them,I'll definately have some pics for you. It's been 1. 5 months since I ordered them. Guess I'll give Jason a buzz tomorrow.
