Towing Gooseneck level with 4x4 Dually?

Is anyone using auto adjust air bags on their rig? My sister-in-law has a self leveling airbag system on her truck. It has sensors on each side of the rear axle and a compressor for each airbag. When you put a load on it runs both compressors to bring the ride height back to stock. When the load is removed air is released to bring the ride height back down.

You could probably get away with having one large air tank and one compressor and feed both aribags off that.

Chuck, I have never compaired mine side to side. Are you on level ground when you looked?

As far as the "anti rotation index devices". mine have not moved in the 5000 miles I have had them on.

Did the bushing solve your problem? I am more then happy with the backend drop my 5er causes since I installed the bushings.

Tow-Pro,

I was on the level floor of my garage when I installed my bushings and measured the side to side height. I know there always are build tolerances in any massed produced product, I just dont know what the tolerances are for this dimension. I will try to find out from my friends at DCX Engineering.

Regarding the effects of the overload bushings, I will not be using my camper until January. I'll be able to report the results then.

Thanks, Chuck

The measurement was at both front and rear. Both front and rear bushings were about 1/2 inch tighter to the brackets on the right side. I have e-mailed my DCX engineering friends, but have not heard back yet.

BTW, do you or anyone else out there know the web site for the DCX Body Builder's Handbook?? The answer to my questions might be in there.

Thanks, Chuck

I meant to say that the overload springs are about 1/2 inch tighter to the new bushings on the right side at both front and rear end of the overload springs.

Sorry it took so long. I looked at mine last night. sitting level on the garage floor. I could not check the back springs because the floor was wet (and I had my good cloths on), but they looked the same in the back. In the front I could put my index finger between the spring and bushing up to my knuckle the same amount on both sides.

wonder if they put a heaver main spring on the LS because the fuel tank is on that side? When I checked mine I had 1/2 tank of fuel.

Sorry for the delay in answering. We just had rifle deer season in Michigan, and I was "up-North". I was successful and bagged a 130 pounder.

While I was away, I received a reply from my friends at the DCX Chelsea, MI Proving Grounds. They advise that 1/2 inch difference side to side between the overload springs and the bushings is within specifications. The springs are computer matched at build and some variation is allowable. I guess this is a non issue.

Thanks,

Chuck
