I do not think it is legal to force an RV over scales if it is used for recreation. USDOT law. Now if the rig looks totally unsafe they can probably write you a ticket for unsafe issues but can't scale you. They can do a traffic stop and do a DOT inspection.

Yes, I have weighted the truck and trailer. I had the truck fully loaded with driver, fuel, DW and the trailer loaded. I do not carry water nor waste in the tanks. I run empty and use full hook-up sites, DW request.

My Scaled weights are: front axle 4940, rear axle 5160, trailer axle 8140 and GCVW 18,240 LBS. The truck with a full load of fuel, driver and DW, no camper attached weights in at 8K.

I'm running 80 in the rears and 70 in the fronts. With 3000lb. pin I figured I would put 80 in the rear since they are 10 ply's. I am considering a Trailair pin box but I don't know how much it will help our ride in the front seats!!! I know they help the trailer, I have a dexter equaflex suspesion on my trailer and it ride good considering how bad some of the roads we have been down are.

The only scales on 89 shown on my map is at the 87 intersection near Great Falls. Did you mean the 83/200 scales? The only RVs I have ever seen parked at the scales, in any state, were being pulled by transporters. They were parked if a; out of hours or b; no CDL A if the GCWR was over 26,000. Failure to have a MT permit would only result in a ticket, plus having to buy a permit to proceed.

Sorry your rite 83/200 I take 83 to Seeley lake Those scales do have a rest area there also. But there was a bad Head on on 83 and they have been ripping some butt on RV's. They have to look over loaded before they chase them down but the WILL come and get you. There are a few Forest Service campgrounds on 83 well know for pulling out on oncoming traffic been lots of broad side's cant wait till the Tourist season is over and they go HOME. There seems to be the thought that if your 3/4 ton will pull it then its ok. We drive by the campgrounds on the way to town and they are pulling some MASSIVE trailers with 3/4's

I am towing a LQ GN horse style trailer with my 04 Dodge 3500 dually, My pin wt is similar to yours. I installed PacBrake bags and have been quite happy with the ride improvement. It is definitely NOT like a full air ride truck but is quite good for a assisted leaf spring setup. The adjust-ability is nice, I do not have in cab adjustment but that will be the next addition.
