Air Box size questions

I'm planning on installing the PSM intake and replacing my AFE filter on my 06 2500, with the new 4" pleat stock paper filter. My question is: Are the 6. 7 air filters the same size or are they too big (ie too deep) for the 5. 9 air box. Also was wondering if they're not the same size then why doesn't Fleetguard carry the updated filter? Finally is there any difference between the WIX 49946 and the Mopar 53034249AA filter?

The 6. 7 and 5. 9 filters are different dimensions, and are not interchangeable.

The 4" OEM filter is the best there is, end of story!

If you need more performance (up to at least 450 rwhp) look at a home depot CAI.

Why spend the $$ on a PSM intake? If you have an 04. 5-07 you are losing performance by ditching the directional vanes in the lower elbow. A Airaid MIT keeps the vanes and does a great job of smoothing/directing airflow.

I am at, or slightly above, 400 rwhp. I run a OEM 4" filter, Airaid MIT and Home depot CAI. I see less than . 2 psia change from idle to WOT, and that's with a turbo and a cam. . LOTS more air than stock. I have less than $100 into my pre-turbo intake and doubt any aftermarket setup can touch it in terms of flow vs filtration.

Rumer is that the OEM 4" and WIX are the same filter, but I have read about WIX fitment issues and thus I stick to the OEM filter.

This is my filter with 8K miles on it, only registers a . 2 psia drop from idle to WOT.

good advice ah64id. the psm kit just cost more than the home depot. we changed our air boxes out to the 6. 7 box before the 5. 9 deep pleat became available i like it and now only have to stock one filter. we have cool hose and T. A. G. 's on three 06's we moved the elbows with the vanes to the 03 and added the mit
