Hi '03 guys! I was at Doug Hofeldt's last week having one of his hoods installed on my ancient 12 valve... when he mentioned that he was thinking about building an '03 hood. What got my attention was that he was planning on installing the egt, boost, and temp gauges IN THE HOOD. No wires to fish, no holes to drill. Could probably mount them far enough away for me to read them without glasses! :D Doug is at: -- email address removed --

Functional! The top of your stock airbox is mated to a replacement lower box with an intake horn that seals to the underside of the hood. The hood scoops feed this airhorn and pressurize the airbox. If you also get the air dam, there is a hose that plugs into the bottom of the intake horn and also feeds the air box. BIG benefit of the airdam- it really improves road handling! Sounds bogus, but I've noticed a huge improvment on my 4x4 at speed! I wish I could give you an estimate of how effective the hood/air dam are, but I did other things (turbo/fuel) and only confused the issues.

If you dont mind me asking about what did you give for it? I have been seriously thinking about these for both functionality and apperance but I didnt want to do it unless they are functional.

TIA

Thank you a bunch, they look pretty good in the pic, and thats a really reasonable rate. I think I will be hittin the wife up for the money here pretty soon... LOL :D :(

I wonder if he could make a "pod" that could accomodate 3, 2-5/8" gauges?

I would love to mount the "big" gauges out on the hood. Being mounted outside would provide the benefit of going full mechanical, and readable ( @ 2-5/8")

Hmm, time to make a phone call :D

I am still working on the mold I welcome all suggestions. I am going to make the inside of the hood bigger for a few of the guys that are putting twin on these trucks and build the back of the hood up high to put gauges in the back side off the hood. It will look like a cowl hood but have a ram air inlet on the leading edge of the hood.

After putting on a set of gauges on the a pillar of a 03 I my build a stand alone pod that will go on the out side of a stock hood I like the 2 5/8 gauge idea. If there is any thing that you guys would like to see on the new hood I would love to hear about it, its easier to do it now then later.

I have come up with a new light for my Dam Air system I use a pair of 100 watt air kraft landing light you can see 3 to 4 time as far then the stock light on bright. Not sure what the police will say they may not like getting there eyes burned out of there heads,so these are a off road lights;) ;)

I know you'll be happy with the results! I kind of backed into the hood deal by starting with the air dam. In fact, the WIFE saw it sitting on the floor at Diesel Dynamics in LV, and said "WHY DON'T YOU BUY THAT FOR THE TRUCK?". The quality and fit of the air dam, not to mention function, were enough to ease my concerns over spending the bucks for the hood. If you DO decide to get the air dam, ask Doug about the LANDING LIGHTS option! These puppies saved my truck on the first night I used them... Deer in the middle of the road. When adjusted properly, they are better than HI beams!

Guess I need to learn how to type faster... . HI Doug! What are you doing goofing on the computer instead of working out in your "laboratory"? Hope the smoke has settled from my visit. :D

See you at MM.

Greg

where at in Utah are you located Doug?

do you do entire paint jobs? (cab is in serious need of new paint job)(its just a cab and chassis)

If so to the above, can you? will you? do you do custom paint jobs? i. e. if I had something very particular in mind could you do it?

Russell

I paint the hoods but not set up to do completes. I need to add on, hope to do that this summer. I have done custom painting for years. If you e-mail me I can send you some pics. of ghost flame on my truck. Don,t know how to put photos on here.

I live in Pocatello Idaho 150 mile north of Salt Lake.

Greg I am going out right now.

Doug

I look forward to seeing what you come up with for the 2003's. I love the looks of this hood, it is functional but not set up for the Cummins. I had thought of buying one and hooking it into an air box myself, but I will wait I think and see what yours looks like.

Doug (Hofeldt), are you using the aircraft landing lights in your Dam Air? If so, I'm wondering why I hadn't heard of it????

1st Air Bulldog induction hood in Washington State!

1st (production) NACA ducts on a Air Bulldog induction hood.

1st (and only?) [censored] custom Dam Air

:D

John sorry; in order to put them in yours I have to cut the back of the pockets off and fab. in a bracket. These lights are awesome plus they are glass so they don,t pit as bad.

You know I will treat for right if you want to do it.

mopar-mudder I have a 2000 Trans am I like that hood too but it for a Pontiac my hood will look like that and the SRT combined
