Doug, I want your hood!!!! Drool, drool. Too bad about this situation. That hood is the bomb to have. But you better have the hp to back it up. I am sure that you will dredge up plenty of challengers with that on there.

Hood Wanted

I would like to have the hood without the rest of the set up. If anyone is looking to sell just there hood let me know. Sam.

Thanks for posting those Bob. :)

I just love Doug's hood! And that 3rd gen one is really cool too.

Sam, the only thing you'd be missing getting just the hood is the air box. I know some don't use the box part, but I don't know anyone willing to sell their Air Bulldog hood! Heck, if I ever had to sell my truck, I'd probably keep the hood and hang it on my wall... :-laf

Long and boring...you know, typical 'John'

BTW John, did you ever fill that frame Jason made you? ;)

Well to tell you the truth RR...

I finally got around to mounting the pic of my Ram (DSM-2002) a month or so ago. I didn't really want to use that pic because it was a reminder of how things were run at that particular Show-N-Shine. However, I decided, what the heck... so, I started the installation process remembering and adhering to everything I had learned (which wasn't much) about mounting things in frames. [so far, so good] Then, once I was happy with the mounting job I noticed a VERY small piece of junk between the glass and the brushed stainless steel mat (even though I had just cleaned that area)... and you know I couldn't live with that! Anyway, in an effort to expedite the backtracking process I committed a FUBAR! :( I cracked the glass in half [in all fairness, it was a tight fit to the frame], got severely PO'd [out loud] and got a small saliva dot on the photo. And like a REAL MORON, I tried to dob it off which only made it worse!

Admitting defeat, I placed everything back in its protective storage location vowing to find another pic to install once I purchased another piece of glass.

I think I've found a pic that I might use...

it was the one Rob took in the early morning before the BD Show-N-Shine (in I believe Spring 2002), where you and Rob helped me prepare in their parking lot around 6:00 AM. The pic was of both our Rams side by side at the Black Diamond Cenex station... I was filling up my Ram. I wish Rob had been in the pic too although, I'll always remember that time we spent together.

I inadvertently decided upon this pic because Terry (HOSS' wife) gave me an enlargement of this pic at the Rob Hanson Memorial BOMB party a few weeks ago. I'm not sure how she knew I liked that pic, but she almost brought tears to my eyes when I opened the packet and saw what was inside!

Now I just have to have a larger enlargement made to use in that frame. I guess I'll have to contact Terry about that as I know Rob took a digital pic and I would seriously doubt there is anyway I could get a hold of the original file.

John, yes, that reply was 'you', and it got me grinning in spite of myself... :)

I think that pic of your trucks together is a great idea (I know the one you're talking about)! It was a really fun day; I remember it well and am glad I was tagging along. What better way to see your lost friend every day?

I hope you get your truck back on the road for next season's events. Think about this: I won "Best Engine Compartment" at Diesel Thunder! That ought to motivate you! :-laf

BTW, I had some of those nasty cottonwood seeds drop onto my hood this spring, when the truck was sitting over here while I was over at my Mom's (Tonasket). They seeped their crud onto the paint, then the truck sat in a shop while we rebuilt the motor, so it's been a few months now. I never did get it off, and nothing seems to work. Someone at DT recommended using clay. What do you think? I consider the hood to be the showpiece of my truck, and would really like to have it looking pretty again but I'm afraid I'll mess it up. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Rhonda, I'm not sure what you mean by that. I've read it over three times and I'm still left wondering???? ( ) Oops! I just got it! It was what I wrote in the header of my previous post!

I took a look at the pic again last night and I'm wondering if it might be too dark... especially when up against the brushed s/s 'matte'???? Also, without Rob in the pic, well, I guess I'm still looking for just the 'right' pic.

Hey, good for you Rhonda!!!! :) I was just talking to Big Bob on the phone after I got home from work yesterday (I called to congratulate him on his "Best Of Show"/"Peoples Choice" victory), and asked who had won some of the other catagories, one of them, "Best Engine Compartment". He told me he couldn't remember... now I know.

As for "Next season's event's", I seriously doubt I'll be participating. Not only did I give up showing my Ram after the Summer of 2003, my heart really isn't into it (or much else for that matter) anymore. In other words, I may attend but I seriously doubt I'll compete again.

I'm not sure (specifically) what cottonwood seeds will do to a clear coated automotive finish as I haven't experienced it directly. If it's anything like alder leaves, it is very acidic. If so, clay may work as clay usually only removes surface contaminents (as in, on top of the surface), like small droplets of pitch, road tar, etc. Anything that has etched into the clear coat must be buffed out. This may entail numerous steps with multiple pads using progressively coarser compounds (as the case warrants), until the desired results are met. This would be directly followed by progressively finer compounds (using different pads for each compound) until the surface has been restored. If the coursest compounds won't quite get it, and you think there is still enough clear coat to work with before 'breaking through' to the base coat, carefully sanding with 2000 grit wet/dry paper (and water) could work. Of course, this would have to be followed by a progressively finer buffing ritual.

If for some reason the contaminent discolored the entire thickness of the clear coat, and it is possible (but not real probable), the finish might have to be sanded and re-cleared to correct the problem. But, I'm betting not. You see, it's all in the evaluation of the damage and expertise in dealing with it.

Good luck Ronda...

and congratulations on your Diesel Thunder win!

John

Thanks for the info John. I may take it to the guy who painted it, as it sounds out of my realm to do right. Wish I'd have simply parked it someplace different...

Did you also know that I won high horsepower in the BOMB class? I ran a 635hp and 1122tq. Oo. The only truck to dyno higher that day was Hoss, running NOS and water/meth, with 688hp. Darrin (sp?) was behind me with 627 in his little 2wd.

I haven't looked in the last few days, but I'm guessing Jason hasn't posted the results on the NWBomber site, eh?

I don't, but would like to buy one. The other day a big tree branch fell on my hood. I need a hood and grill. No more production of the Air Bulldog hoods for the time being... ... %&*&^%$
