Truck is the one in my signature:D
Towed my boat the other day and truck felt sluggish and not near as responsive, and fuel mileage had dropped some. Seemed like it was starving for air and was taking the turbo for ever to spool up.
Checked the air filter and seemed OK (stock w/5,000 miles on it) but still was being not its self. While I was in town stopped at our local auto store to check what they had for air filters. Got a K & N and put it right in, truck is back to normal.
When I got home check the old one out pretty good and was not all that dirty ( hit it with an air hose ) so am some what confused as to why it would be acting as tho it was not getting enough air.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and what was you're cure?
Oh truck has just over 13 K and filter minder had barely moved. Also check all the hose connections.

have had both an air filter and a fuel filter get fully plugged in less that 5K,however my filterminder got sucked down all the way,I always carry extra spares, its the cheapest first fix to do when trying to solve a problem and at about ten bucks apiece it doesnt break the bank to keep a cabinet full of them. none of the cotton-gauze filters are as efficent as the stock paper filter and unless your bombed out they flow plenty of air. form all test Ive read KN is probably the worst choice though.

I've been told that K & N is not recommended for our trucks and that the stock filter does a better job. You may picked up some bad diesel or maybe you need a fuel filter.

I know K & N filters are not all that great, got it to see if there was a difference sense where I live ( in the boonies) thats all they had that would fit my rig.
Have already ordered replacements from Geno's.
Until I get some pennies saved and can get full air intake system or a Amsoil drop in filter.
Oh the K & N was on sale of only $40 bucks.
