Depends on what you want to use it for... My airhorns are plenty loud and don't require 100%. I used a $30 MV50 from Checker. It got better reviews than the $250 counterparts.

Absolutely right. Does depend on how you are going to use it. I was looking at it from the perspective of how I use mine. Should have not made such a blanket statement/generalization.

It also depends what year your truck was made. Onboard doesn't make an air compressor kit for the 95 thru 98. 5 years.

I've got a belt driven unit from Kilby on my 98. 5. I've been very happy with it. I built a three gallon tank and put quick connects on the front and rear of the truck. Use it all the time with an impact and for airing up tires on equipment.
