Air Condition smells like French *****house

Chrysler has a problem with there Air Conditions with a bad smell. I guess it a fungis that builds up in the box. This is on all models in the Chrysler line up. My Chrysler 33 is rear bAD AND IT GOING IN THE SHOP Monday to have a cleaner run through it. Any of you had this problem?

there's a recall on the newer truck for that. Something about mold growing in the a/c duct. I don't think the fix is much of one though... . from what I read, the dealer just sprays something in it to kill the mold and some other quick fix.

Turn AC off 1 minute before arriving at your destination. It dries out the condensation (and saves you a tiny bit of fuel).

1. Make sure the condensate drain tube is clear. Run a wire through the tube to make sure. If you hear water sloshing when you turn corners, that is not good.

2. With the fan on high and A/C not on recirculate, spray some Lysol disinfectant air freshener at the fresh air inlet (base of the windshield).

3. If it gets really bad, wire in a off-delay relay to run your fan on high for five minutes after you shut the truck off.



I sort of remember when my truck's A/C worked.

At Lincoln, we used to spray lysol into the air system intake, then shut the car down and let it soak. now it smells like a locker room, but not a french *****house.

Of course I was beaten to the punchline, but my first reaction to this was "so you know what a French *****house smells like?!" I guess the smell must have been caused by the armpit hair...



But in all seriousness, I concur with all of the above solutions with the added advice was that I used my wet/dry shopvac to suck out the drain tube so that it was clear and that most of the moisture was gone. In addition on my second gen, I added about a foot of hose and zip tied the end to the frame in a down and rearward angle so that it would drain better and hopefully get less dirt in it.

'dem French 'ho's should have used SURFBEETLE's method to clean their things up. I don't know about gettin' dirt in it, but a shopvac on the drain tube gotta hurt!

Check your Vin # for TSB 24-006-06. It's an extensive repair for this condition for many Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep products. Good Luck!

From someone whom has had his head in many a vehicle the smell is very often close to home. Run it on fresh instead of RECIR or MAX will help but if its strong perfume etc. it is oftened magnified in the vents of vehicles and not just D. C. built ones and next to impossable to correct for any amount of time unless its stopped at the source

Tow Pro is correct - use Lysol in the suction side under the dash. Works as good as anything. Used it for years when I taught Auto shop . (retired now)

Been traveling from CA desert to Key West FL (big humidty change) and now have an odor in the cab after sitting closed or when AC is first turned on. If it smells like a FWH then I'll have to take your word for it, but Im not describing the smell like that to the wife, for obvious reasons

I want to try the Lysol treatment but don't know for sure where the AC air inlet is, that I should spray into. Would appreciate any advice on its location.

I'm thinking the vents by the windshield wipers.

Try checking under the dash on the passenger side. Turn the blower on high and feel for the suction with your hand.

Well isn't that interesting! The A/C in my truck sometimes has the poopie smell of a cat's litter box.
