Bad news, the clutch isn't available separately, you have to buy the whole pump. They are available from sources other than DC and also rebuilt for a fraction of the price

Do a search on the topic. I posted this stuff before but I can't remember exactly what I posted.

lots of good info on automotive air conditioning. There is a vendor in AZ that is very knowledgeable and helpful

I think a couple of guys replaced their clutches last year using that source.

I just got my truck back (Friday) from my Local Dealer (Paul Young), when I got my truck Back, The air condition wouldn't turn on. Compressor won't Start, It seems like the clutch went out. Sems odd that it was working perfectly when I took it in.

Mechanic said it was that way when he got it.

Does anybody have any Ideas why My Compressor doesn't run?

I have checked all the fuses ( A/C clutch relay, and A/C Clutch Fuse).

When I reached down to turn the compressor over, it turns just like it should, Just a Little hard to turn, (Doesn't free-wheel), but it still turns with one finger.

I can't figure out why it won't turn. I wanted to ask everybody here FIRST, BEFORE I took it to an A/C Shop.

Thanks.

101, check to see if you are getting voltage to the clutch when the unit is on. If not, bypass the low pressure switch, if it runs you are either low on 134 or the switch is bad. Ths low oressure switch is the one back near the firewall.

What did you have the truck in service for? Makes me wonder how the "mechanic" knew it was that way before. And if it was was why wasn't the issue mentioned at the time you picked up your truck or a phone call stating "hey did you know your AC doesn't work?" etc, etc.

Check with either a meter or a test light, to see if the clutch is getting power. Would be my first move.

I haven't had to spend any time under my hood, so I couldn't even tell ya the location of the compressor without looking, let alone the wiring connections.

(Knocking on head) so far been a great truck, haven't had to open er up other to tighten the boost clamps.

Thanks A bunch guys, Really appreciate it.

One more thing I noticed about the truck since I got it back. . The overhead counsol temperature and compass doesn't work.
(Apperantly I'm not the brightest Kid on the block)

Took it to an A/C shop today anyway, Diagnosis was free #ad

Technicians found that the relay circuit wasn't recieving any power to turn the Clutch on. He Jumped the relay, and the clutvh worked perfectly.
So after abou 1. 5Hrs later Another technician finally concluded that there was a bad Ground SOMEWHERE, He just couldn't find it.

The tech said to bring it in Monday. (Not sure if I will. . )

I know how I can fix this problem with a $2 switch and some wire, but,!
Will it Hurt the compressor to run ALL The time the A/C Blower is On ?

Did he test the relay or is there no signal at all going to the relay? I've had two of those relays get weird on me - working sometimes, then not working. I used a known good one (horn) to test it. I also experienced the "bad ground SOMEWHERE" problem, which turned out to be a bad PCM. It took a lot of troubleshooting to find that one. I hope that's not your problem.

No Power going to the relay.
Relay works Fine. ( Checked it by moving it around to other relay slots. )

I took my truck in to have the Lift Pump Replaced.

okay, Update,

Took my Truck in Monday to have the dealer look at the PCM.

Called Tuesday and the Service advisor told me the machanic couldn't find anything wrong with A/C. (DUH!! I allready spent 2hrs doing that)

Waiting for them to cough up the PCM Module.
