Ok, trying to see if anyone has had a prblem with their AC clutch. Mine would work partially or sometime but would quit. I couldnt find it so I took it to a shop. The guy pulled the clutch and showed me the break and the wear on the surfaces. It would rotate for a while and then stop due to heat in the clutch pack. New clutch: perfect air. He said the Sanden compressors just dont do well over time in disels due to vibes.

Your not alone as some of the guys in TDR have same like issues. On my 06 the compressor simply locked up with only 30k on the odometer. I had it replaced to later find out my fan clutch was bad as well and it too was replaced. Everything is working now 82k but in the Texas heat it takes long time to cool down. Going to try the heater-core mod next to see if that helps. You will several post where guys are shutting off the flow of anti-freeze to the heater-core which seems to help.

I am wondering if shutting the engine down with the clutch engaged is not so great for them? Its a pretty abrubt stop on this engine.
