Trucker's Fuel Prices and Routing Website??

So it's the hottest week of the year here in San Diego with 100% humidity and 100° temps. On the day before we left for our trip, the condensor fan for AC in the house died ($150 part not the end of the world). No biggie since we are going on vacation this week in the fifth wheel... (famous last words LOL)

Here's the issue, today after going to the beach, we get back to the fifth wheel and the A/C is fine but it's too cold in the rig so my wife shuts off the unit at the thermostat and the fan stops but it sounds like the compressor was still running. So I shut the breaker off and we let it sit for about 30 minutes and then try again. It comes on fine, but then when it shut off, it does the same thing.

I also must mention that earlier today I cleaned the air return filter. So just now, I popped off that cover to check on it and just tapped the control box under the filter cover and then replaced the cover. I just ran it again and it cycled down to the set temp and of course as I am typing this, it shut off properly with no issues.

It is a Dometic DuoTherm and according to the warranty card it's a model 59516. 531 in a 2004 Keystone Sprinter. Does anyone have any insight as to why it was still humming after the thermostat shut off the blower, it has never done that before.

As always, thank you in advance for any insight.

Craig

Hoefler,

That's definitely a possibility, I guess I'll have to search online for detailed info on the unit. BGlidewell, I'm not sure if it's a heat pump. The unit is does no heating of the rig, there is an actual furnace for the heat. The A/C unit is a roof mounted unit, beyond that, I am not sure about the specifics.

I'm an official Dometic dealer, although I've never sold one. I'm an HVAC contractor, and replaced my old unit on my 5ver I donated in 09. Because of the lic. and resale permits I was able to become a dealer to get parts for less, as well as pay whole sale for my AC unit.

The problem your having is a simple one and should be an easy repair, the relay stuck in the closed position, and its a good thing you turned off the breaker. Even though it is now working, I wouldn't ignore it. I looked up your Model number and its missing a letter on the end, (@ 59516. 531D) and also give me the the Product number (@ PNC 991761052), that way I can look up the wiring diagram.

This is a bit off topic, but you can install a strip heater for quicker heat and supplement your furnace when needed.

RVTRKN,

Where would I find the product number (and the model number for that matter)? I got the model number from the warranty card in the owner's packet since I could not find it elsewhere? If I have to pull the roof cover off, then that will have to wait until I am home next week. Thanks.

when I removed the bottom cover where you clean air filter, there is a Part number: 3107541. 009 and a serial of E4060121. Does this help?

While I'm at it, I just found that my Suburban Water heater, model SW10DE is only working on 120V AC and the 12 Volt DC/ Propane is not working. Any ideas? I checked the switch on the wall to see that it is getting power and power is leaving the switch. But the ignitor and the solenoids are not doing anything.

That looks like the metal box that lurks under the air filter cover, that is where I took the part number from that I gave you. I thought that was the part number for the entire unit.

Yes, it is. The fan had turned off but the compressor seemed to stay on. I did not get time to pull the roof cover off and find any other numbers on it yet. It's just too hot here this week to be up on the roof. It's on my short list before our next trip.
