The air conditioner selector switch in my 2002 2500 does not turn the blower fan to the high position when you select "Max AC". It quit at about the same time that I had to service the system with R134. Could there be a relationship there? Is there a relay that controls the fan in the Max position? If so where is it located. Will it show me in the Dodge service manual how to remove / check the switch. I probably should buy one as my Haynes manual is not very specific. Thanks in advance for any help provided.

Max A/C just recirculates the cabin air. The fan speed is still controlled by the speed switch.

Is the system still moving the damper from defrost to dash to floor position?

There is a resistor under the pass. side dash right next to the blower fan motor. Disconnect the wiring harness first and then the two screws hold it in place. Pulls out with a little twist.

You should find that one of the connections has melted at the soldered point.

Personally I have repaired two, ( one on my truck three years ago - STILL WORKS FINE ) and ( one on my father in law's 2002 half-ton last winter )

Of course the dealer can always order you one for $60 - $85 ( two prices I found )

P. S. clean any stuff (leaves, crud) out of the hole the resistor came out.

The selector switch is still directing the air flow to the location you select ie. the defroster, the floor or the dask

Pulled the resistor as suggested . There were no broken wires. I assume that you are referring to the 5 flat type between the resistor & the mounting plate. Also didn't find any debris. Put an ohm meter on the 4 contacts & get a reading on all of them
