I think my stock lift pumps on its way out. I have seen in the diesel power mag that Pure Flow Technologies has a air dog fp-150 for $499. 00 do they come complete with the filters or do you have to buy them seperately? Has any one delt with them or is there another vendor from this site i might should call?Is this the one i need with my current mods?Do you just disregard your old lift pump and stock fuel filter assembly when installing the air dog? Thanks Jason

I just got the Air Dog fp-100 today should be good for me as I don't intend on going over 500 HP anytime soon if ever. Yours will certainly be harder to install. I got my from Xtreme Diesel and the price was basically the same for our 2 size pumps I just could not justify the harder install and time for my use. While I am just getting into this I only have 3 problems I need to address before doing the install.

1. I have a 70 gallon cross bed TransferFlow tank and I think it connects into the fuel filler house and this is where the AirDog connects its fuel return line. Not sure what problems this will present. Does anyone have an idea before I get into this thing?

2. I currently have the Vulcan big line kit with a campaign pump that is going south quickly. Air Dog wants you to get to the top of the fuel tank and disconnect the quick-disconnect at the tank to get the fuel from the tank. With the TRansferFlow it is not practical to raise the bed. Does anybody know if it can be done with the OEM tank in place? Can instead can I connect the 3/8" Vulcan rubber fuel line from the steel line as is done to the campaign pump to the AirDog sure would be a lot easier. For your Pump Jason your going to have to get to the tank down anyways because you basically need to install a 1/2" draw straw. Which is not needed for the smaller pump but is for the larger.

3. Not really a problem but I plan on keeping the existing fuel filter inline. Mostly because I do not want to lose the fuel heating element. More filtering should not be a problem other than possible minor additional fuel pressure lose. Anyone else do this with the Air Dog? What pressures are you seeing?

Jason I am going to just go with the AirDog basically putting all my eggs in one basket. AHHHH to have faith!!!! Air Dog does say they have a bypass should it fail(I hope never does) that will allow the injection pump to draw fuel through it and keep running for a little while anyways. Hopefully long enough so I can get a replacement without damage to the VP44.

Thanks Bob i did not know the air dog 150 was so involved to install. What power is the air dog 100 rated for and is it just a bolt on and go. Do you think im giving up any performance with a stock lift pump? Thanks Jason

I have the FP-150 ittook me bout two hours to put it in came with everything you need 1/2" lines all the way to the VP i just took my stock filter houseing off customer sevice is great also. i did not use the draw straw it came with just plug it in to the stock pickup (it comes with the hardware to do that),and for 499 it works well (20psi idle 16 wot):)

Jason - I bought mine at

Dodge 5. 9L Cummins 94-02

And as I recall you can down load the installation instructions there. I am going by recall on this but I think they said the FP-100 is good for up to 500 HP. The FP-150 good up to 1200 hp. You probably need to call and see what they say about when you really need the draw straw. I am kind of assuming they feel if you are going to be over 500 hp you will need 1/2" all the way from the pickup in the tank to the VP.

I think I will see if I can get the quick-disconnect off without lifting the truck bed as having the 70 gallon cross bed TransferFlow and 5er hitch rails(forgot about those) would make this a chore. If I cannot disconnect I will make the connection to the 3/8" rubber line the Vulcan kit uses to my campaign pump. I am also leaning toward just taking out the OEM filter from the canister and leave it as is which means I have the fuel heater but no added restriction from the OEM filter. I think some have done this when installing the FASS.

Jason it kinda looks like you will be more happy with the FP-150 with your set up but really only you can make that decision. As I remember really the only difference between the 100 and 150 is they recommend the 1/2" draw straw but you can find that out by comparing installation instruction and the cost was only like $10 or something different.

I am only thinking about 350 to 400 HP with better torque for towing. I need a new pump anyway as my campagn pump will go pretty soon and with mild injectors, programmer, etc. to get there for sure need the new more reliable pump.

I will post how the installation goes here if I get to it before you do. I would like to install in a week or so but life has a habit of getting in the way.

I hope I helped a little and maybe somebody else will chime in more knowledgeable than I am at this point not having installed it yet.

I fibbed a little the price is listed as the same how kool is that!!!!!! I think you should look for yourself as the 1/2" draw-straw is listed as a $36 adder if I am reading the site right.

I'm a little curious about these pumps. My stocker is going along o. k. , but I'm not one to sit back and wait for something to break *if I can help it, that is* so I've been looking for an aftermarket LP. I'm leaning towards the AirDog setup because, well, I'm poor; at $150+ less than a FASS setup, it's quite appealing.

I'm really looking forward to updates on your install. Being poor means doing things yourself, and I wanna know what I'm getting into before I do this!

Hi Hookemupman

I'm an Air Dog dealer and can help you out with any questions you might have and purchase of a unit if you desire. The only difference between the 100 and 150 is the flow rate which is determined by motor speed. Thus one motor designed to operate at one rpm and another to operate at a different rpm. I recently installed a 150 on my truck which is basically stock except for an edge EZ. This a bypass system so any fuel not used goes back to the tank. Sounds like over kill but if you do more mods you are ready to go. I know you probably have more questions and i'm not very good typing so please call me at 215-788-1107.

Clayton

Thanks Clayton, which fuel pump would you recommend at my power level the fp100 or the fp150 this is most likely the power level i will stay at. What hp do yall think im at now? Im guessing aroud 475 to 500rwhp?

Go with the FP100,i think this will support over 600Hp,no problems with mine 16-18 PSI and can't pull below 14PSI loaded with the 11K fiver or all the stuff in my sig---Hope this helps. DW

For the same money go for the 150. Might be more than you need right now but you will never have to go bigger later. Remember its a bypass pump so what you dont need goes back to the tank anyway. Call me. I can explain much better over the phone.

I looked at my pump today and it says it is a FP-80 Clayton what is diff. between that and the 100 just fuel flow? This even though the instructions, etc are for the 100 and 150.

I just installed my air dog fp100 on truck to day. Everything went on without any problems. I still dont know what my fuel pressure is. I have to order the fitting to install my sending unit for my fuel pressure gauge. I sure wish i would have done this in the first place. Thanks for the advice. Jason

Jason-Got mine installation completed today as well. I decided to use my existing Vulcan 1/2" plumped through the OEM canister and I removed the OEM filter. Pressure on mine right now is 12. 8 psi at idle and I have been able to pull it down to 11 WOT. However, I have noticed in the past when I do anything to the fuel system it takes a few days for the pressure to final out, perhaps it is the Autometer(electric)? I have a 400 mile trip this weekend and will decide after the trip if I need to add 1/4" washers or get a stronger spring to increase fuel pressure as I want to get it to 15 psi at idle. I don't know about anyone else but I found getting to the quick disconnect on top of the tank from the wheel well next to impossible. I could not get 2 hands in there maybe getting old, to fat or both. After looking at it I tried disconnecting the drive shaft from the rear end and swing it over. I could much more easily reach the quick disconnect, got both hands in there and got it off.

Next will be RV275's then on to the Adrenaline. So far hearing good things about that unit. Then we will see where that leads!!!!

Bob - How did the trip go? Did your fuel pressure come up, stay the saem, or drop?

The trip went well fuel pressure was much better and steadier. It seems to have stabilized at 14 psi idle and 16 cruise so it came up some. I think will leave pressure alone and not try and adjust. As I make my other planned mods will monitor the psi and then adjust as necessary to keep pressure where I will be comfortable with.

Am disappointed that my email to Air Dog went unanswered. I did get all my questions answered here though. If Air Dog does not plan on answering email they should not show a email contact address!!! Other than that I am satisfied to this point just need to run for awhile and see how it goes over time.

Did you leave the existing fuel filter inline? I am going to go with the air dog myself, eventually, and don't see the harm in filtering twice provided the PSI stays at an acceptable range. (Cost of two filters I suppose might be the only other problem )

I just got the Airdog 150 yesterday. I figured that my "wild hairs" would make me want lotsa ponies within a year or two. The draw straw was the biggest pain. The instructions are not very helpful because in all honesty, they can't really get ALL the fuel tank designs and play with them to figure out the best location for it. The straw is long enough to place at the highest point on the tank if you need to. You just have to watch the bed clearance for the plumbing on top. I found a 1 1/4" hole saw worked perfectly for the hole. After that, it was a snap. I'll install the rest of the setup today. I just can't wait!
