Cushion

James I read that somewhere just the otherday. Maybe it was on the other site. I'll see if I can turn it up.

Jim

found it

Thanks to wcjp. It is on page 17 of the new mag, right column, "seat solutions, floating down the road". I got to try this thing. My 61 year old seat is begining to cause problems when dirving more than a day at the time. The wife is experiencing a similar prob. This just might extend my driving days a few more years.

Hi guys,

was gonna say something about fossils but then realized I'm one too :) . I had the same issues with my old 91(greatly improved with the 95) went to an aftermarket seat. Now with the 2nd gen and the comfort of the seat in it I would opt to get 2nd gen seat and change out that way. jm2cw.

James,

I saw those cushions a while back in an OTR truck magazine, but the price turned me away. I put those 2nd Gen seats in and haven't had the numb leg like I used to. On short trips, when I'm too cheap to get a room, I might be sitting for about 22-26 hours. It makes a difference.

You young guys disregard this post. You'd need to be an old b***ard to understand!! Like we say, gettin' old ain't fer wimps! :p

it aint the years, it's the miles

If we take your advice, and start young driving stuff that's comoftable, maybe we wont get to be such pains in the rear when/ if we reach your advanced chronological stature. :-laf 8 years of riding rough stock wasnt too kind to me; but here I want to start back again, so I aint the brightest light on the Christmas tree... ...

I have been looking for a 2nd Gen seat, but cant find one in decent shape, decently priced, when I have the cash on hand.

Daniel

been looking for a 2nd Gen seat

Tugboat and I have talked about the second gen seats but I have the same prob as Daniel. I am afraid that my brother would miss the seats from his 97 if they disappeared. I am off to Dallas Sunday morning and I have gotten some bubble wrap from Wall Mart and intend to make a pad from that. I will let you know what the outcome is when I get back. My seat is not as bad as the one described in the magazine article as I have kept a towel cover on it all the time. The underlying material is getting rather packed down.

By the way, the bench seat in the 92 is more comfortable long term than the bucket in the 93. My low miles 93 sits like a new truck compared to the 425k mile 93. As I mentioned, I think the greater problem is my joints. If the bubble wrap works, I will have about four bucks in both seats. I really like the looks of the ROHO seat cushion however and I would pay two hundred buck if I could try one first and liked it. Check out their web site. ROHO International

riding rough stock

Let me count some of the ways. Broke my arm before I was school age the second time on a Whizzer motor bike. Permanent crick in my neck from a childhood collision with a truck. On the back of a truck that had a sudden stop against a tree when I was about eight years old. Turned a scooter over on myself at about fifteen the same year I had a horse fall with me in the middle of a paved road. Ran crawler tractors for about twenty years. Had a tree fall on me when I was about thirty. And did heavy equipment repair with out a hoist for thirty years.

I especially like the line from one of our fellow TDRs re life and skidding in sideways at the end. Hell, I ain't going to quit. I'm going to leave kicking and hollering.

But a good seat would be nice.

ROFLMAO @ James... .

Sorry to hear about your rough childhood ( and the tree at 30) but you're too damn funny! Yeah, when I come slidin and skiddin in at the end I want to have a damn good seat too :)

Cheers,

James,

BUBBLE WRAP!!! Why didn't I think of that?? I may do an experiment myself. Good luck on the trip. Heading back to Richmond on Tuesday.

bubble wrap

Well if the bubles did any good, I probably couldn't walk if I hadn't used them. This was the first time out in about two months and it about wore me out. Yes, the bubble wrap held up for the 1600 miles. I wasn't sure they wouldn't just pop and the whole thing be flat. If it was intended to be permanent they would have to be stouter. I have some blister sheet that has larger air pockets and they are connected in a line. I can't find where they came from so I can't as yet get enough of them to make a trial run with them but the idea is simi sound.
