just got my new filter from genos garage. the old one had a foam insert with it, that the new one didnt come with. its pretty dirty, should i leave it in, or can i take it out, i didnt know if this was stock, or if it just came from the previous filter.

The original filter on the 01. 5 had the foam pre-filter. None of the replacements I have put in have had it. The pre-filter probably is a good idea, but I am guessing that it would raise the price of a new filter more than most people would be willing to pay. If the new filter fits the air box, don't worry about it.

I read that it is important to keep the foam filter and it should be transferred to the new filter. If it is foam you can wash it and dry it and re-install. I think there are previous threads discussing this. .
