AIR FILTER MINDER UPDATE. DODGE TECH SAYS THAT SPRING IN THE '03 FILTER MINDER IS WEAKER THAN EARLIER MODELS. SO ANY FULL THROTTLE RUNS WILL PRODUCE 35% INDICATION.

I JUST HAD A FRIEND'S '02 TRUCK PLUG THE AIR FILTER AND THE FILTER MINDER NEVER MOVED. HIS TRUCK WAS RUNNING POORLY. IT ONLY HAD 10K ON THE FILTER. TBOB

Normal driving, you can just change it every 40K miles and should not be a problem. Mine needed changing on my 2000 at 50K miles and the filter minder still had not moved, thats why I say 40K should be a good time.

The 40K rule certainly doesn't work here. 20K is pushing it! Last time I cleaned my Amsoil filter it had been 15K and it was really chocked. The truck barely saw a dirt road. Wonderful desert environment

Makes sense, I'm in the humid Midwest, out in the country without much pollution. Guess it depends a lot on where you live and drive. I do understand that the filter minder does work but I think most of the members of the TDR are way to anal to wait until it shows their beloved truck needs a new filter. I know I was :D

filter minder

AIR FILTER IS TOO SMALL, LET'S MOVE THE RIGHT BATTERY UNDER THE TRUCK AND PUT IN A REAL AIR FILTER. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE WHAT YOU CAN COME UP WITH. TBOB

Pardon my ignorance but don't we want the air filter minder to be sensitive? To me, when it goes to 75% restriction, then I will want to change the filter. What good is it if it never moves???

My two cents.

Casey

If the filter minder gets pulled down to 35% on a brand new filter either the filter minder itself is suspect or the filter is too restrictive and the engine can't pull enough air through it. I would be interesting to see what these trucks would do with unrestricted air flow!

35% of What though..... I Hate percentages, I want to know in inches Hg, not percent. Thats what I hate about Fuel guages. I have a 1/2 Tank. soooo, how much is that. I need numbers, man, numbers.....

Just thought I plug my 2% worth in here.

FILTER MINDER

GENTLEMEN, LET'S NOT GET CARRIED AWAY. THE FILTER MINDER IS THERE TO LET YOU KNOW WHEN TO CHANGE THE AIR FILTER. DIESELS USE A LOT OF AIR. DODGE HAS THROWN US A CURVE WITH THE SMALLER AIR FILTER AND WEAKER SPRING, AND TRYING GET MORE POWER THRU IT. NOT TO MENTION THE INLET MUFFLER AND SENSOR. ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS REENGINEER THE INLET SYSTEM. TBOB

FILTER MINDER

BY THE WAY ALL THE FLOW RATINGS FOR YOUR AIR ARE STAMPED ON THE AIR FILTER IT SELF, IF YOU CARE TO LOOK. IT'S FROM THE UK. . IT'S A WONDER THESE TRUCKS GOT ASSEMBLED, WITH PARTS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD. TBOB
