Can someone tell me if replaceing the air filter with the K&N type filter and a megaflow type muffler is really worth the cost ie: more notable HP and fuel mileage? I have a 04 dodge cummins (auto)305/555 and tow a 13000# 5th wheel mainley in the sierra nevada and cascade mt. ranges. . I can hold 50mph going up these mts. but as everyone knows that you can't get enough HP or booze. Thanks for your responses. . Bill

I think it is worth the expense to get rid of the stock muffler.

As for the air filter. If you keeping the engine stock, the stock air filter is fine. It will help to drill some holes in the bottom of the air box. Most of the restriction is the box, not the filter element. If and when you decide to bomb the engine, then the new air filter would make a difference.

just buy a 4" turbo back system fried has a 4" w/muffler and 5" tip, it sounds good and not to overpowering inside the cab. he bought the kit through city muffler in OK, and if your going to do a cold air kit, go with a bhaf. so a search on bhaf for 3rd gen's. k&n puts the oil in the filter in the turbo :( not good. stay with a paper filter witha outwear or a marine version of the paper filter.
