Air Filter Precleaner

Does anyone run a precleaner before their k&n air filter? I made my own out of some humidifier foam that is 3/8" thick but is not very dense. I wouldn't mind something a little better as I do most of my driving on gravel roads. Does K&N make one for our trucks? Having the precleaner, which is soaked in engine oil, sure cuts down on air cleaner maintenance in dusty conditions. I hope it filters better too. Just curious what some of you other guys may have done.

BHAF isn't big enough for MY wife's hose!

Doubleclutch... Yooooo MAMA! LOL!!! I would caution putting in a prefilter of any kind because this will futher restrick your air flow which can lead to poor performance... . We all know our Diesels like to breath and the more air the better. I clean my filter after 3000 miles whether it needs it or not ... I use a K&N and don't over oil...

call K&N and see if you can get a 'pre-charger' for it. you run them dry and you only loose less than 10% max flow.

and if it's an issue, you might be able to get it in assorted colors.
