Air filter questions

I have a 04. 5 I just sucked the air filter out of it's mount. The filter only had about 2. 5k on it. I have heard of this happing but had never seen it. We just had a 2008 in the shop, the air filter box is a little different. the filter is about twice as thick. I would think more area means better flow. The lid has a larger hole for the tube to the turbo and less angel out of the lid. The costumer is going to bring the truck over tomorrow, so I can take it apart for a closer look and see what fits on mine. I checked with dodge the box is only $44 and lid $27. The upper hose is a question or mabe a cool hoes and turbo inlet. Has anybody read anything about the new air box compared to the old one?

Here is a thread I started not so long ago. I have not yet made any progress on making the manometer and measuring the results of installing a 6. 7 filter into the 5. 9 air box. I have tried putting one in, and it DOES fit, but it seems to press the pleats of the filter too tightly. Maybe you want to try and experiment with the manometer. If you do, let is all know how it goes. I will eventually get around to it, but it is not a big priority right now.

Hopefully this weekend I will get to see what fits. I tried to put his filter in mine box it's not going to fit to tight like you said. I think the 6. 7 box will fit in our trucks. I used to have a carb synchronizing tool FOR 4cly that used mercury for motorcycles that would have been perfect for testing but I loaned it to a friend now I dont have it.
