Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Air Filter

Could one remove the foam pad on the paper element for more air flow without causing engine damage.

If it is the foam portion of the filter I am thinking of the Cummin's filter no longer come with this foam. I doubt it improves air flow to any appreciable amount in my opinion anyway.

I agree with Bob on this one. At a wallopin' 3,000 RPM and under I doubt you would see any advantage at all.

Well my brother has been getting napa gold filters for his 03 and they do not have the foam attached to the paper element. This is why I ask. Thanks for the replies. Bunyan
