Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) air filter

Going to get a Fleetguard air filter. There are 2 part numbers. From what I can tell on the internet the diff are:



af25541 Has foam pad



af 25040 No foam pad



Any reason NOT to buy the filter W/O the foam pad ?

Using a filter without the foam results in increased and very noticeable tubro whine.



When I once installed one without the foam pad it drove my wife nuts... and probably any dogs within earshot. I quickly went back to the foam pad version for peace from my truck AND wife.
