I have read several articles re. air filters. One air filter is better than another because of the air flow capacity. There is no discussion of the efficiency of the filters. Such as what percentage of particles 3 micron or bigger does the filter arrest? What size particles are we particularly concerned with? Isn't the purpose of the filter to remove the dust particles in the air? This should be as important a criteria as air flow capacity.

When I briefly looked @ K&N, I talked with their tech folks. If I recall, K&N's own data said paper trapped 99% of the particles of a certain size, and their filter trapped 98% while flowing xx% more air. The fact that they pass TWICE the dirt was enough for me... Paper only! If yo need more flow, go bigger paper, i. e. BHAF.

If it's good enough for Piers, HVAC, and other high hp trucks, then it's good enough for me. That's why I got the aFe on mine now. Comparied to the BHAF, you can REALLY TELL it pulls in more air.

TDK don't lie to these folks the only reason you have an AFE on your truck is cuz your other half won it for you:p.

Yes but she also won the Scotty II box that goes with it, but am I running that? :p

Actually I wanted an aFe anyways.

(BHAF's) 19037 is $35. 00 ish flows 900 CFM,19002 is $70 ish flows 700 CFM, TDK's AFE cost $52. 00 and flows 1350 CFM and is washable like a K&N. Go to AFE's web site and you can build your own with your trucks measurements then get the part number and call them up for all the info. I ordered a monster AFE 4. 5 X 6. 5 x 18" that flows 1750 CFM and had it on my door step in a week, that with them having to special build it.

Most TDR members, including me, are talking about the Magnum Force/Mega Cannon air intake system, not a replacement drop-in for your stock box, altho AFE makes one of those, also. (how's that for a few comma's?)

Edit: Also, don't let the suggested retail price scare you. They are available for considerably less than that. Do a search for sources.

Second edit: Geez, just noticed you have 1st gen. Not sure if this will work for you... . I'm going to my room.
