I am having a problem with my Air Flow Direction Control for my AC, Heat, Vent, etc. Does anyone know how to trouble shoot this problem. I am told that it could be the module itself or it could be as simple as the little door on the inside the heater box has slipped off of its shaft so the air can not be directed. I would sure appreciate some help.

Thank You!!

OH by the way Dodge wants $175. 00 for a new module.

The first thing I would check is the vacum line from the engin. Mine seperasted right at the pump, small crack, and it causes all the hvac controls to keep putting air through only one area, usually thre vents.

Just a thought.

blend door actuator

That's what it sounds like your describing. Not sure how to test it but that is what was wrong with mine last year. The part was some ridiculous price though, lucky enough it was under warranty. Maybe try a salvage yard and find another one cheaper just to try. It appears to be an easy switch out, of coarse the dealer said they needed the truck for 4 days to do this. If yours is in the same place as my 01 it is just right of center console under glove box. I removed it after they installed just to see what it looked like. Try different dealers they all quote different prices. Good luck. Sorry could'nt be more help  :D

Where is the air currently blowing?? Out of the defroster vents? If so, and you can't change it... I'd check the vacuum lines.

There is one in the engine compartment, right above the the exhaust housing and downpipe from the turbo. On my buddy's truck, it wasn't tied up like it should have been and fell down against the downpipe. Needless to say, this melted a nice hole in the side breaking the vacuum. Without the vacuum, the baffle won't redirect the air. Just cut the bad part out of the line and insert the end back into the 'T'.

Hopefully it's something simple and cheap like this ;)

I had the exact same thing happen to me that Aggie is describing. The vacuum lines are very small in diameter (much thinner than the old gas engine kind). Mine fell down on the exhaust manifold and burned in half. All air flow was going through the defrost vents. After cutting off the burned section, I was able to reconect it even thought it is shorter and barely reached the fitting.

Dave.

I had the same problem coming out of the defroster only when my cruise control was engaged but the cruise would not hold a constant speed. It kept slowing down and I found a hole in the vacuum line under the battery tray. I think battery acid make the hole.

purchased a new vacuum line from servo to the fire wall and works perfect.
