One of my OEM horns has die and I'm ready to replace them with some very serious horns and I found Air Horns of Texas and I'm interested in the Model 1601 horns Jason says he has on his own Dodge Ram 3500. Has any member ever heard the sound of them? I can't play the sound to hear. Has any member purchased from them? Anyone have comments on this would be appreciated.

I've had the Grover 1601 air horns (AIR HORNS OF TEXAS G1601 @ $109. 95) for six years. They are one of my favorite modifications. The 1601's are easy to tuck away and are plenty loud enough. I've never regretted my choice. I purchased from TDR sponsor Rickson. I see he is asking $63. 58 for the Grover 1601's: http://www.ricksontruck.com/airhorns_truck.html

I would probably pass on Air Horns of Texas.

Thanks Thomas. I had no idea that RicksonTruck was into horns. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I'm glad to hear your comments too!

I actually ordered some horns from Rickson in Feb and still haven't received them. I've kinda been getting the run around from them. I talked to Dan, the owner, and he said the guy they had that did all the air horn kits is no longer with the company, so he's trying to sort out everything. So it may take a while if you order from there.

GOLsen: Oh My Gosh! I'm sorry to hear about the delay of your order. I'm not quite ready to place an order just yet. 30-60 days. That's why I've started this post to find out about the problems TDR members like you are experiencing. We sure don't want the song and dance run around song. Thats for sure! Anyone else have any thoughts/comments? Thanks in advance.

I bought a complete grover train horn kit from Jason a while back, and was happy. I think they were the model 3000 horns, and sounded as close as you could get to the sound clip. They sound awesome.

Ricksons -vs- Airhorns of Texas

I was going to buy a compressor kit from them but got the run around so went to Automotive Everything instead... . I bought my firetruck airhorn from Airhorns of Texas & Jason was great to work with. He knows his horns! I bought my horn, Solenoid valve, & my airline from the air-tank to the airhorn. I would not hesitate to purchase anything from him again & if I gotta pay a tad more, I'de be glad to pay it for his 1st class service & communication..... FWIW. :)

I bought an Airchime K3LA authentic train horn from Jason at Airhorns of Texas as well as the accessory kit. Jason was a pleasure to deal with and was very patient and thorough during the several phone calls i made to him before deciding to purchase. You will not get more knowledgeable or better service than what he provides. Very pleased with my purchase.

eBay Store - train horn: air horn, siege, engineering

I got the Kong MKII's. 3 chime setup with a little on the small side 5 liter air tank. Ebays at about $266 shipped. Sounds just like a typical Diesel locomotive :)

The tank fit nicely on the inside frame rails (between the fuel tank and the transfer case). the horns under the bed in the passanger side corner beween the cab and the wheel.

The are LARGE hons and arranged in a tree (2 side by side, one on top and in the middle). so it' was not to easy to find a spot with better sound direction.

Tho, these have been fun.
