Hey, just wondering if anyone knows of a good (aka sounds like a semi) air horn that doesn't need a compressor. And if not, one that does. Also, does anyone know if its possible to turn off the horn sounding when you lock your truck? I'm sure my neighbors would love hearing me lock my truck at two in the morning with a 120 Db horn!

The only decent horns need a compressor. Buy a Grover emergency horn the same ones the fire engines use check with a truck parts store. You can buy a 12v compressor fairly cheap. I will try to find the website and email it to you. Can't help you on disabling the horn. I have the same problem too.

dude i got a train horn 3 horns with compressor loud as hell... ..... cannonball from wolo they are bad to the bond i scare old ladies and whoever with them... ... i almost made a couple cyclists fall down they jumped so bad i should get a film of it and watch them jump it's hillarious... . right in front of the wally world especially.

if you put a relay inline with the solenoid's wiring to only be active when the ignition is on, then the air wouldn't honk... i've got a few used single trumpits from train air horns i want to fab up mounts & plumbing for... i still need some parts [solenoid, compressor, tank, synflex, brackets...] and someday they will be on, and they will be loud...

Hey Moolie

Did you manage to fit those things under the hood? I saw them (and listened to the mp3 of them) and I would love to have em under the hood. People in this town would finally listen to my horn... and if you have the vid of the cyclists post it up!

Horns

First, in your manual, there is a procedure to enable/disable the horn honk on locking with the keyfob. I routinely have it enabled at home so I can do a quick check when I go to bed, but when we are traveling, like in an RV park, I don't have it enabled. . Too disturbing to close neighbors.

My air horns are so loud, as are many, that I didn't try to put them under the hood. They are on the vertical 'brace' that is at the very forward edge of the bed (about 6" behind the rear of the cab. It is a sheet metal brace that keeps the leading lower edge of the box from flexing. I have them aimed at about a 45° angle down so they hit the pavement. They are so loud that where they are on the truck isn't really important. . I also didn't tie them in to the stock horns such that as they are so loud, I won't be using them as a replacement for the stock horns, but as a toy instead. In the rare instance that I honk my horn at someone, they are usually either agressive enough or just screwed up and in an embarassing situation that I see no point in aggravating them further... . My air horns are ONLY for fun. .

Those canoball horns are extremely loud, something like ~152dB.

That is as loud as a jet engine. Having something like that, you take responsibility for the consequenses. :D :-laf   :--) :D I will ultimately put a set on my truck but I will have a switch that is only for extreme situations, and fun in non crouded places. A switch something like normal horn, both and air horn only.

someone please post a link to where I can get the air horns, I need it bad!!!!! To many Wisconsin Packers driving up here, I need to let them know that to approach my truck could be harmful to thier mental stability

Go on Ebay and punch in "locomotive horns " in the search engine look at the Nathan 3 bells this will move things out of the way.

i couldn't fit them under the hood dude... ... ... i have them where the spare goes underneath but it's so loud it doesn't matter i have them facing backwards so no debris get's into them but it doesn't matter guy i mean they are loud and people will jump if they are near u unexpecting it... ..... give me yoru email and i'll send u a clip of when the dyno driver thought he was funny and airhorned me one time and air horned his assistant one time... ... just to give u an idea... ..... what's good is that the compressor is strong enough that if needed i could air up my tires as long as u get the hose attachment i had these guys weld a bracket to hold the tank and the compressor underneath by the spare tire also i got a clip of them installed too after he blasts his coworker with them so let me know if you are curious i'll send it
