OK, I'm ready to take the plunge, but I've just got a few questions. I'm probably gonna order the Grover kit from Rickson's and go with the 1609 horns. That seems to be a pretty popular choice.

My question is how can I use my existing horn button (steering wheel) for the air horns? I really want to make this work, but I didn't know if anybody made a solenoid or something to make it happen.

Next questions regards compressors. What are 100% duty cycle compressors and what are the advantages compared to the alternatives?

Finally, with a 2. 5 gallon tank and the compressor that comes with the Grover kit, will I still be able to air up tires and maybe run a supply to air seats in the future? Also, I'm considering a Kelderman air ride system way down the road and I wondered if this tank and compressor would work for that system or will I need to use what they supply?

Thanks in advance.

Heavy--my Hadley's fire off the horn button... . i just pulled the wire rom the electric horn and hooked it to the solenoin that cane with the set up... . Hadley Bullies BTW. as for the size of the tank--i am FAR fromn an expert but my gut feeling is NO--it won't be big enough for the Kelderman. like i said--i'm no expert tho.

I also have the Hadley Bullys in my truck. I tapped into the horn wire at the factory horns to get the air horns to work with the stock horn button. When the horn button is pressed both horns go off. I also have a switch under the hood to shut off the air horns for the cold weather since mine have a tendancy to get stuck on when it is cold.

tntway,

What are you thinking of changing? I would definately be interested in a solution.

It is a litle annoying when you want to give a short blast of the horn and get them on until the tank is empty.

HEAVYHAULER, I had the Hadley set up also, It froze up in the cold, cycled constantly, and that little air tank kept cracking.

With that said, I bought the 1609 kit from Rickson about a year ago. I have the 2. 5 gallon tank and it is hooked up to the factory horn (steering wheel). I have not had a single problem with it. And it will clear a path for sure!

HeavyHauler:

I've had 12 years experience with a set of Grover air horns. I posted a VERY long response in Sept. 2003 to a member inquiring about Grovers. You can find it by searching either by my name and then look for "Air Horns" in the list of threads, or you can search by the members name: E Wagener.

My post is over 19,000 characters and answers many of your questions. I can't PM it to you because this system limits PMs to 5000 characters. If you'll PM me your e-mail address, I'll copy it to a regular e-mail and send it to you if you can't find it yourself by the search method.

So other than sound what is the difference between the Grovers and Hadleys? Why do the Hadleys stick on and the Grovers don't? Is it a matter of changing out the solenoid or do I need to start over from scratch?
