I took the Overflow valve out of the pump {the one towards the front of the pump} to check the spring and check ball because of heavy white smoke when cold. In the process it must have cracked that line that runs backs along the pump or something since it sat for so long. Anyway, i changed the fuel filter this morning and couldn't get it started for 1 hour and kept hearing air pushing out somewhere near the overflow valve with every pump of the prime button. It finally started, but died out the next time shut the truck off and wouldn't start again. Now when it ran last time before i shut it off, the idle was really choppy and it seemed to loose a few miles per gallon. No fuel is leaking from that rear line, but like i said i hear alot of air come out when i prime the lift pump. Right now it's not starting at all. . how hard is that line to A}Get a new line, and where does it route to and B}How much do they cost Thanks for the help guys. .

Cumminzpower, do you mean that line that runs under the intake/heater grid, between the filter and the high pressure pump (I'm assuming your 1992, bosch ve)? If so, there is a junction hidden in there that might need to be tightened. Mine never leaked fuel, but always leaked air until I realized it was there.

NOPE. . wrong truck, it's the 94' that i am talking about, this is costing me money sitting here. . would appreciate some knowledge. I changed fuel filter again today, again still getting the whoosh whoosh noise after pumping the lift pump prime button 20 or so times and still keeps cranking and won't start, all lines seem in tact and none are leaking... rubber gasket/o-rings replaced as well nothing out of the ordinary here. . why won't it's start? :(

OK. . here's something funny, well, not really. . i happened to check the functionality of the ShutOff Solendoid and sure enough when the key was in the "run" position the arm didn't come upwards like it should. Granted, this is a BRAND new solenoid and Relay from the dealer i got it from. I pulled it manually by hand it boom fired right up. . i think i still need an overflow valve as well as time this poor beast. . the white smoke when cold is horrendous, thanks for the help guys
