I’m looking at replacing my muffler and intake and would like to know which combo would pair well. I like the replacement MBRP muffler, but not sure which intake; leave it stock, or Afe drop-in, or Afe stage 1. My truck is stock and will remain that way, just looking for less restriction and better breathing. Another question, I’ve read a few posts about loss of low end when going to a more open muffler, yes, no, how much? I have a 25’ boat I tow, will this set-up have any effects, pro or con?

Thanks for the info, first diesel, so I’m not sure which performance mods work well and what’s worth the money.

The AFE intakes are cool. The sound is great, especially if you get the Torque Tube. The PG7 filters well. I have not found any dirt in my intake after thousands of miles, many on dirt roads.

The main restriction is in the air box, so I don't think a drop-in will be a benefit.

I personally can't tell the difference with or without the intake by the SOP meter, but on a dyno I saw a 1hp gain with the intake and Torque Tube. The truck was otherwise stock, with the exception of the Banks exhaust.

I'm going to switch to a DRC BHAF intake. I prefer the filtering properties of paper over oil-on-media, but not until the rainy season comes and goes. I'm running my stock airbox for the winter. Nice and quiet, to go with my recently installed BFG 285's.
