On Noise, my rig is a front engine Motorhome and when I tried a straight pipe it was real loud. The thing about a high flow muffler for me was it got real quiet but I did get more power and lower egt's.

I still get engine noise since I sit almost on top of the engine but no more than a gasser, maybe less.

Turning up the fuel, larger compressor wheel(50 to 58), and larger crossover to intake (non IC), didn't give me much "wow" but 4" straight pipe (3" downpipe)did. just couldn't take the noise. Dosen't seem like I lost anything with the muffler, and that is after a 3,000mi test ride.

Did drop a little MPG due to higher speed. 12,000lbs towing a car...

JG I ran my truck with the stock 3" system minus the muffler for about 6 years. I didn't like the raspy sound of the 3" open system.

When I went to the 4" I intalled the muffler that was included with the kit. It was the same price for the muffler or delete pipe. If this muffler starts breaking hangers like the stock 3" muffler did. I'll replace it with the delete pipe I have standing up in a corner of the garage. :D

I had a 4" downpipe on my 91- got old at 70mph with 4. 10 gears. Heck the current 4" @ transmission x-member from a 3" DP gets old with 3. 54s. Didnt notice much difference with the 3" or 4" DP, though. Still pretty loud either way.

JG- If your hood insulation is in good shape, I might take it. I am trying to quiet my interior down a mite. Vinyl floor doesnt insulate near as well as 2 layers of old carpet, but it smells better and should stay clean longer.

daniel, your welcome to the insulation if i take it out. it is ripped up where the surpentine belt shredded with the previous owner. ill take a picture and put it in my profile so you can see if you really want it if i take it out.

I have a Hushpower muffler on my 2001, It make's my 7" single stack bearable on the highway. Hushpower mufflers are kinda expensive though, Donaldson makes mufflers alot cheaper.
