Air Intake for 1st Gens?

I noticed that my rubber intake tube that goes from the air filter to the turbo has some tears in it and needs to be replaced. Looking online its an $81 piece (plus shipping) so I'm wondering if I should look into a Air Intake package.



I did a search on this forum but did not come up with anything... is anyone running an aftermarket air intake system? Does anyone even make one for a 1st gen? Looking through the Genos Garage brochure I saw them for 2nd and 3rd Gens but nothing for 1st Gens.

Check with PDR, they had some of those last year. Not sure if they still have them but its worth a call.

I have one of Sams Intakes I purchased from PDR a few years back. Since then I have also made some intake systems of my own, just for fun. You have a lot of possibilities with this, just like the exhaust syetem.

Did you guys notice any performance improvement with this intake? I would think there may be some potential from a "smooth" pipe like that compared to the factory rubber piece which has a lot of "ribs" in it to be flexible. Less turbulent airflow perhaps.



I called PDR and they do carry something similar to the SamsRams setup I believe for $189 + shipping. My only concern is the air filter is "exposed".

Early on PDR tested our Intakes on their dyno, and since then have marketed/sold them for me from their showroom. Each of us are helping the other. Their price and mine are nearly the same - differences being with shipping as they are in Canada and I am in Colorado.



While there is not much of a power increase on the top end, the airflow is smoothed out and the power comes on earlier in the powerband. Tow rigs will notice it most, and definitely do not purchase one if you don't want to hear it :-laf .



PDR has a few in stock, and I am producing another run right now. This is about as far as I can discuss - TDR guidlines do not permit vendors to conduct business over the threads, but PM's are authorized and the number for the shop is available via PM as well. However, information and performance can be discussed. Feel free to send me a PM, or of course drop PDR a line and ask for Mark or Bob.

I too have the ASA intake kit. I love it, man does it bring the turbo sound alive! Only thing I'd like to see this kit have, is a nipple on the tube to allow you to install a filter restriction gauge easily. Got it about two months or so ago from PDR.
