Has anyone noticed air pressure decreases on the order of 25 lbs per tire on their dually wheels/tires in a time frame of 5 or 6 weeks? The decrease in my air pressure was prior to winter temp drop and during fairly constant temperature period.

I have read several posts citing separations on the Goodyear 235-80-17R and wonder if failure to maintain air pressure was a condition that preceded the separations?

My initial suspicion was that the Brazilian wheels or valve stems are defective but it may just be those marvelous Goodyears.

I can't seem to have a "normal" problem. I found out that my block heater is only disguised as a block heater. It is actually an electronic firestarter as using it causes a huge spark/arc to appear and it trips main circuit breakers in house.

Not sure of where you live, but here where i live the temps have droped enough to cause all the tires to be about 20% low. Just went around the other day and checked them.

When I started out my drive Saturday morning, the Smartire alarm went off and told me I only had 24. 5 psi in my left rear tire. But a quick examination showed a) hardly noticeable sidewall flex; and b) a nail through the tread with an audible leak. ;)

Seriously, though, there was a TSB (recall?) for porous aluminum rims on '03s. This is probably off-base, since you have a dually, but thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

Just a note about the 235/80/17 RSA tires. I work as a tech at a Goodyear store. A white dually came in today for a set of rear tires. He delivers rv trailers for a living and has 168,000 kilometers on his 03. The tires were all original, mind you the rears were worn right out but the fronts were only half way there. I inspected the sidewalls for cracks at the bead area and none were to be found. All in all i was impressed that he got that kind of mileage out of the set. Oh, the truck was pretty sharp looking as well.

Well not a dually(SRW, Aluminum), and not Goodyear's(Michelin's), but I notice the same thing when I took delivery I put 60 in the fronts and 45 in the rears. Three days later when I got home I checked again I had 40 in the front and 35 in the rear. huffed them back to 60/45 didn't think much of it, checked a month later back down at 40/35. rotated them front to rear, huffed them back to 60/42. they've been fine since. I don't know, I just work here
