I did a search trying to find out if anyone has had problems with wheel hop on a 3500 that has an "Air Lift" brand air ride rear suspension with little luck. This particular truck is a 2001 4X4 with 22. 5" rims and wheels. This truck has terrible wheel hop and we couldn't find any traction bars made to fit this application. The owner has also been eyeballing the Kelderman stuff, but he already has air ride and would just like to fix the wheel hop. What words of wisdom do you guys have for us. If you need any more info from this truck, just ask and I'll do the best I can to post the info so ya'll can educate us.

Thanks!

(Truck specs: 2001 3500 4X4 dually. Lots of engine mods. NV5600 6 speed. Gear Vendors Overdrive. 22. 5" rims with 255/75 tires. Air ride rear supension. Superlift front springs. )

Your going to need tration bars, that big of a tire and the torque is overloading the leaf springs. The airbags won't help with this problem.

This particular suspension system is pure air bag, no leaf springs. The air bags are mounted behind the axle straight up and down and the brackets/trailing arms are bolted to the axles. With the trailing arms mounted the way they are, I'm not sure what kind of options are available as far as traction bars are concerned. The trailing arms are located similiarly as you would locate traction bars, which is why we are asking for some expertise and/or experience with this situation.

How stiff are the trailing arms? Are they structural (like ladder bars) or just tubing? They should be doing what traction bars would do, but if they're long and floppy they'll let the axle wrap. You should be able to see how they flex if you stand next to the truck and have your buddy drop the clutch.

Ok, I understand what you have now but something is flexing causing the wheel hop, it could just be that type of suspension that is causing it. It is similar to the Peterbuilt suspension and if the wheels spin, they are going to hop. I would contact Kelderman and see if they have that problem with their suspension. Your buddy may have to suck it up and replace the rear suspension.

try to lower tire pressere the 22. 5's don't need 90 psi on p-truck,friend has them runs 40 psi in 22. 5 semi-floaters,rides great

After thinking about it, you may need to put alot heavier shock on teh truck, the suspension may be overpowering the shocks.
